Sony has officially confirmed that Alan Wake 2 and The Last of Us Part II are coming to the PlayStation Plus lineup. The announcement was made during the recent State of Play showcase, where Sony also teased Marvel’s Wolverine and other upcoming titles. Let’s take a look at all the details and what to expect.
PlayStation Plus Free Monthly Games for October 2025
Each month, Sony updates the PlayStation Plus free games list with a variety of titles. The October 2025 lineup of free monthly games includes Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, and Coccon. These video games will be available to PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium subscribers starting October 7. Players will need to add these titles to their library manually before the deadline, i.e., November 3.
Alan Wake 2
Alan Wake 2 is a psychological survival horror game developed by Remedy Entertainment. Released in 2023, the title follows novelist Alan Wake as he struggles to escape an alternate dimension while battling supernatural forces. The sequel introduces Saga Anderson, an FBI agent investigating ritualistic murders in the haunted town of Bright Falls.
Goat Simulator 3
Despite being named Goat Simulator 3, it is actually the second release after the massive success of Goat Simulator. This third-person action game lets you be a literal goat and wreak absolute havoc wherever you go. It adds new areas, challenges, and events to discover as you add friends to your herd. If you want a game where you can go completely crazy and bring chaos, this title is for you.
Cocoon
Cocoon is a puzzle adventure video game where you control a beetle. The game has multiple worlds, where each world exists within an orb that can be carried on your back. You will have to hop from one world to another and combine, manipulate, and rearrange them to solve puzzles. Every world has its guardian protectors that you need to battle by mastering new mechanics.
The Last of Us Part 2 Joins the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog
To celebrate The Last of Us Day, Sony is adding The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)— along with The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered (PS5) edition — to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. This means Extra and Premium tier subscribers can download or stream the game at no additional cost starting September 26, 2025.
Released in 2020, The Last of Us Part 2 is set four years after the events of the original game. It features two protagonists, Ellie and Abby, whose stories are connected. The PS5 Remastered version enhances the experience even further with improved graphics, faster loading times, DualSense controller support, and new gameplay modes like No Return (a roguelike survival mode) and Guitar Free Play.
