Mafia: The Old Country: Every Vehicle and Horse, and how to get them

There are two primary ways of traversing the map in Mafia: The Old Country—by horse or by automobile. Both are fun ways to get from one point to another and to take in the beautiful San Celeste scenery. There are several horses and vehicles available in the game; some you can purchase, and others you can unlock.

Every horse and vehicle in the game offers different statistics, making some more advantageous than others. With numerous transportation options available, it can be challenging to determine which ones to choose. Vehicles

Mafia: The Old Country Cars

You first get behind the wheel during a high-stakes mission in Chapter 4—what begins as a routine escort quickly escalates into a chase and eventually a dramatic rescue. After this pivotal moment, vehicles become available for use and purchase starting in Chapter 5. Mafia: The Old Country features a diverse lineup of cars, each with unique stats and distinct visual styles. Some are built for luxury, others prioritize speed, and a few are designed purely for hauling large cargo. Fortunately, driving is straightforward and intuitive, so it won’t be a major challenge to master.

Enzo can fire his weapon while driving, allowing you to take out enemies during high-speed chases without ever leaving the wheel. If you’re low on ammo, you can also mow down enemies by running them over instead.

Cars take damage when you collide with obstacles, and the harder the impact, the more damage your vehicle sustains. As your car becomes more damaged, it gets increasingly difficult to control. If you see black smoke pouring from the engine, that means it’s completely broken, so drive carefully. To get back on the road, you can repair the vehicle by cranking the engine from the front. Alternatively, you can head to a garage to spawn a new ride.

Vehicles in Mafia: The Old Country run on fuel, but it depletes slowly, so you’ll usually reach your destination well before running out. If you do happen to run out of gas, you can simply spawn a new vehicle from any garage. Pasquale’s Gas Station becomes available in Chapter 7, though it functions just like a regular garage rather than a refueling point.

You can customize your vehicles in the garage using “car styles.” Simply choose the car you want to spawn, then pick a style to give it a fresh look. Once selected, your customized ride will be ready to hit the road in style.

To unlock car customization, you’ll need to purchase access to car styles at Pasquale’s Store. Look for the stack of paint cans next to the garage access point. Buying it will cost you 1,000 dinari. Once purchased, all car styles become available for use on any vehicle you own. You’ll also earn the Driving in Style achievement the first time you customize a car.

Horses

Mafia: The Old Country Horses

While you briefly ride a horse during your escape from the Spadaro mines in Chapter 1 and again in the Chapter 2 horse race, horses don’t become fully accessible until Chapter 4. At that point, Enzo is given access to the stables and a selection of available horses as he prepares to accompany Isabella Torrisi into San Celeste. From then on, you can visit the stables to acquire better horses, with new options becoming available as you progress through the chapters.

Horses in Mafia: The Old Country are fully customizable, and personalizing your first one earns you the Riding in Style achievement. While all horses share the same base speed and differ only in appearance, they each have a unique attribute called spurs, a temporary speed boost that can be used during races or chases. Some horses have more spurs than others, making them more valuable in high-speed situations. After each use, spurs require a short cooldown before they can be activated again.
