So, true to schedule, Activision Blizzard has revealed a new hero for Overwatch 2 Season 18. Water-based healer Wuyang joins the already impressive roster as soon as the game’s new content comes around.
We did a breakdown on Wuyang and how he plays out kinda like a hybrid who’s focusing on healing, but also with some neat offensive abilities. Granted, there’s nothing that says “dps builder” on his kit, but some cool strategies might be implemented, given the right duo for him.
One thing, however, stood out, as GameRant points out: Wuyang has a sister. A very powerful, very non-Wuyang like sister…

Hey, Overwatch 2, who’s this “Anran” person?
Short answer? She’s a fire-wielding warrior that is introduced to Overwatch 2 as “Wuyang’s sister”. While his older, fluid brother takes the spotlight on the video above, we probably should pay attention to his sister as well.
While we won’t go all the way into stating she will be some kind of new hero for the game’s later updates, it wouldn’t be without precedent: the previous game introduced Genji and Hanzo as polar opposites who (somewhat) hated each other due to family shenanigans. And they played like that too, what with Hanzo being the long range sniper bow-and-arrow type, while Genji was the assassinating ninja who specialized in flanking opponents with his quick-cutting sword skills.

The above trailer doesn’t really show Wuyang and Anran having any king of axe to grind with each other, they are opposites in the sense of him being a water-type healer, and she being a younger, seemingly upbeat and reckless fire wielder. It would be easy to play a dynamic that fits into both characters, maybe her being a dps-based hero to his healing/support style.
Anran is also dubbed by Fareeha, a well-known Overwatch content creator, and usually, partnerships like this do not tend to be a one-off deal, so if Anran sticks around, we might hear more from her sooner rather than later.
For now, though, we’ll pay attention to Overwatch 2’s 18th Season, which brings a lot more to the table than Wuyang as a new piece.
