Hollow Knight Silksong: the price, the time, the everything

How much will it cost

According to Team Cherry’s own X/Twitter profile, Hollow Knight Silksong will come out at a $19.99 cost, across all platforms (reminder: those platforms being Linux, macOS, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S).

Twenty bucks comprises the final purchase number on both US dollars and Europe’s…um…euro, as Japan’s yen puts the game at ¥2300, which, conversely, is about five dollars cheaper than the West.

Funny enough, the game is only two or three bucks more expensive than the original Hollow Knight—which is in confirmation with current inflation rates, so you’re essentially spending the same as February, 2017.

I got the money, but when will I spend it

Team Cherry has also revealed the time of launch, and, as expected, it varies depending on where you are in the whole wide world.

Hollow Knight Silksong comes out at 7AM PT or 10AM ET or 4PM CEST or 11PM JST. In case you were wondering about a midnight launch, yeah, that’s also a thing: those times, in Team Cherry’s native Australia time, corresponds to 12AM.

Extra tidbits

Some cool things to consider: Hollow Knight Silksong will seemingly *not* have the usual early media distribution for review purposes. According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Team Cherry felt like it’d be unfair for critics to be playing before Kickstarter backers and other players, so if you’re still on the fence about buying the game and were hoping for a review or two to sway your final decision, well, either don’t or wait until after launch for those.

Also, Hollow Knight Silksong will be much bigger than its predecessor: while details on story are somewhat unclear (we’ve talked a bit about it here and, more specifically, here), we do have pretty solid numbers to give: the game will have over 200 new enemies, over 40 new bosses, and around 100 different “benches” throughout the game world, compared to over 140, over 30, and 51, respectively, in Hollow Knight at launch.

So don’t expect this to be your usual 20 0r 30-hour deal, as traversing all of that in search for every possible secret, trophy/achievement and all, you might wanna set aside some proper time window.
