Don’t expect any Prime Day Switch 2 deal (oh, and there may be a price hike in one country)

It seems that a Prime Day Switch 2 deal will not be graced upon gamers this time around: while Nintendo’s new gaming system is finally back at Amazon, there is a caveat: it’s an invitation-only purchase.

Instead, it seems the global lack of available units still haunts most offerings, and in Amazon’s case, the invitation system does not explicitly say what makes you eligible. However, if you must chase that Nintendo Switch 2, Prime Day be damned, then it’s a one-click option when you’re logged on your account and…wait for an email response.

If you tough the wait out, then it’s just a matter of clicking the link contained within said email and take things from there. The invitation is good for a little over 24 hours.

What does Amazon’s Nintendo Switch 2 offer bring

Essentially, the Amazon page referred to on most media outlets lists the Nintendo Switch 2 bundled with Mario Kart World.

It would behoove us to let you know, though: the star rating within the page is bad, and while most comments are complaining about the offer (almost double the regular $449 tag, so be ready for fluctuating prices) and the rollout system Nintendo set up, there might be some people with opinions on the customer experience side of things—it might be a worthwhile dive to have if you’re playing it safe.

If Nintendo Switch 2 is not your thing, then Prime Day probably has some sweet deals on individual games and accessories. Of course, you can always check out our Deals page too, just saying…

Oh, and you know who else probably won’t get a sweet deal on the Switch 2, Amazon or otherwise?

The Switch 2 is getting pricier in Saudi Arabia

Yup. It seems our buddies at them dunes will have to fork over a little more of the munnies in order to get their hands on a brand new Nintendo Switch 2. While this is yet to be confirmed, the information comes from AIC—Nintendo’s official distributor within the country (thanks, NintendoSoup!)

According to the page, buying the hybrid console alone will make your wallet  about SAR2,149 ($573) lighter, from SAR1,999 ($533) last week.

The Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle is also getting a price hike, going for SAR2,349 ($626). Oh, and the new price tag starts applying…oh, wait: it did already. Today, July 8th.

AIC justified the price increase on the always elusive “global market conditions” excuse, which corporate salespeak for “too many people want something we have too little of right now”.

While we’re seeing this for one, specific country, the excuse for the alleged price hike is too broad to consider this a mere local thing. Remember: the Switch 2 is sold out pretty much everywhere, and while this is mere speculation on our part, there’s nothing stopping sellers in the US, Europe, Asia, Australia or Latin America to use the same reasoning and increase their prices individually.

All in all, it will be better to keep an eye on any potential offer: we might luck out and see a Prime Day Switch 2 deal yet (the event will last until July 11th) if this invitation-only stuff goes away. But we would also recommend keeping an eye on most price trackers for eventual mark ups on the base tag.

So them’s the breaks, but hey, at least you’re not in my country: in Brazil, while we’re facing the same shortages as the rest of the world, a standalone Nintendo Switch 2 is going for BRL4,928.07 ($904,61). Yes, really.

Looks like I’ll be waiting a while before playing Donkey Kong Bananza, y’all…
