Asus has teamed up with Xreal to announce a high-end pair of gaming glasses called ROG Xreal R1. These gaming-focused AR glasses were revealed at the ongoing CES 2026 in Las Vegas. These glasses are capable of projecting a 171-inch virtual screen with an impressive 240Hz refresh rate. It means gamers can now enjoy high refresh rate gaming on a massive screen anywhere they want. The new ROG Xreal R1 gaming glasses sport micro-OLED displays with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. It can project a virtual viewing area of up to 171 inches at a distance of 4 meters. It offers a 57-degree field of view covering 95% of the focused viewing area. Its refresh rate can go up to 240Hz with a 2ms response time. This makes it the world’s first AR glasses specifically aimed at gamers with high-end performance.

Gamers will have the freedom to make the virtual screen bigger or smaller and move it farther or closer. The glasses have an electrochromic tinting technology that helps adjust the tint based on the surrounding lighting. This adjustment can be done manually, or you can set it to be done automatically. Its Anchor mode will allow players to place the virtual screen wherever they want. The audio output is fine-tuned by Bose for enhanced spatial awareness, and the glasses weigh only 91 grams.
The ROG Xreal R1 also has a companion ROG Control Dock. This doc makes it easier to switch between your PC and consoles. It features a DisplayPort 1.4 port and two HDMI 2.0 ports. The glasses offer complete compatibility with the ROG Ally handheld consoles. This is a plug-and-play support where players do not have to go through any setup process.
