So, there’s a new Battlefield 6 update coming up. DICE has detailed all the information on the game’s Update 1.1.3.5, which addresses…not much in terms of gameplay, but there are some changes that you’ll want to know about, since they improve some clunky animations and fix bugs of varying degrees — including the one where vehicles explode if you take down an enemy who’s lying on top of it.

This is more like a filler update for Battlefield 6 after the game’s oh-so-very-successful release last year (easily beating its main rival, even). Still, there are some tidbits of interest here so it would be in your best interest to download it.

Without further ado, here are the patch notes:

Title Update 1.1.3.5 for Battlefield 6 is scheduled for release on January 20, 2026, focusing on improving game fluidity and balancing specific combat elements. Below is a detailed list of the changes categorized by gameplay, bug fixes, and miscellaneous updates.

Gameplay Changes

Melee Improvements

  • Enhanced Melee Responsiveness: Knife and sledgehammer attacks are now faster and feel more responsive.
  • Buffered Attacks: The update improves buffering behavior for knife and sledgehammer strikes.
  • Melee Timing: Damage timing against enemies and the environment has been made more consistent.
  • Sprint Interruption: When performing a melee attack, sprinting is now only interrupted until the hit connects, rather than stopping for the entire animation.

Combat and Weapon Balance

  • Jet Combat Rebalancing: Jet cannon effectiveness against other aircraft has been reduced; it now requires roughly 40% more hits to destroy enemy helicopters or jets.
  • Suppressor Visuals: Weapons equipped with suppressors will now emit a small muzzle flash, but only when viewed from a close range.
  • Controller Recoil: Recoil modifiers have been adjusted to feel more consistent across all weapons when using a controller.
  • Optic Cost Adjustment: The GRIM 1.50x optic on the DB-12 has had its loadout point cost increased from 15 to 25.

General Gameplay Enhancements

  • Ladder Mechanics: Climbing ladders has been improved with refined soldier animations and better entry detection.
  • Firing Range Updates: Target dummies in the Firing Range can now take damage while they are in the process of standing back up.
  • Reticle Customization: A new UI option allows players to customize the color of reticles for weapon scopes, gadgets, and thermal optics.

Bug Fixes

Vehicles and Weapons

  • Vehicle Explosion Glitch: Fixed a bug where vehicles would unexpectedly explode if a player performed a takedown on an enemy lying on top of them.
  • Bipod Logic: Fixed an issue where bipods incorrectly showed a hipfire bonus while not deployed; additionally, bipod mounting now follows the melee button for various controller presets.
  • RPKM Iron Sights: Corrected an issue where the RPKM would shoot lower than intended when using a short barrel.
  • TR-7 Barrel: Fixed a bug where the TR-7 Light Barrel was providing an unintended boost to muzzle velocity.

Gadgets and Movement

  • GDPIS Destruction: Resolved an issue where the GDPIS was not being destroyed by Repair Tools, Defibrillators, or Recon Drones.
  • Sniper Decoy: Fixed a bug where the decoy failed to properly hide scope glints from nearby snipers.
  • Ladder Launch Bug: Fixed an issue where soldiers could be launched into the air when attempting to climb a ladder.
  • REDSEC Movement: Fixed inconsistent movement speed reductions when landing from a jump in the REDSEC mode.

UI and Game Modes

  • Armor Bar Visibility: Fixed intermittent disappearing armor bars in Battle Royale and Gauntlet modes.
  • Menu Navigation: Fixed an issue where the home screen focus could get stuck on the bulletin board.
  • LMG Stats: Corrected weapon menus that displayed inaccurate reload times for LMGs.
  • Gauntlet Drone Issue: Fixed a rare case in “Data Extraction” where the drone could disappear if drives were deposited exactly as it landed.

Miscellanea

Visuals and Stability

  • Front-end Lighting: Improved lighting in the soldier menus to enhance the visual quality of character models.
  • Explosion Effects: Adjusted explosion particles by reducing the force of the shockwave effect.
  • Stability Improvements: General stability has been increased for Battle Royale and Gauntlet modes to reduce crashes.
  • Performance Note: The update does not include performance tweaks, so players should not expect changes to how the game runs on their hardware.

Battlefield 6 is available for purchase on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X.
