The official Call of Duty blog has detailed all the information regarding Black Ops 7 Season 02, highlighting new features and story-driven aspects that are soon to land on the (in)famous Activision-led videogame.

The new stuff spreads everywhere Call of Duty related, including major content drops on Multiplayer, Zombies and Endgame, as well as lots of narrative developments.

As you know, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 had a largely unsuccessful release, with heavy criticism on its campaign mode and, despite a big effort, nothing really new on the multiplayer front. Activision managed to bounce back from some of that damage with Season 01 back in December, 2025, but it still left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth as it failed to regain the ground lost to its main competitor (who’s got an update of its own, too).

The question is: will Black Ops 7 Season 2 be able to revert the rest of the damage into something Call of Duty worthy? Read on the details below and give us your thoughts!

Endgame: New Narrative Stakes and Strategic Abilities

The Black Ops 7 Season 02 narrative focuses on Alden Dorne and scientist Victoria Atwood, who are utilizing David Mason’s mind to refine emotion-control technology. This storyline translates into several new gameplay mechanics for the Endgame experience.

  • Guild Strikes and Nightmare Zones

At launch, players will encounter Guild Strikes, occurring when hidden Cradle stockpiles are detonated across Avalon. These events transform specific locations into Nightmare Zones, which are high-intensity hotspots featuring increased difficulty, aggressive enemy waves, and a Strike Boss that yields high-tier rewards upon defeat.

  • Eagle Eye Skill Track and New Abilities

The Eagle Eye Skill Track debuts at launch, prioritizing precision and critical damage with perks like “Big Hit” and “Armor Breaker”. Furthermore, two new abilities will be added to Operator loadouts:

  • Sentinel Protocol (Launch): Deploys a reprogrammed Guild robot that provides cover fire and can revive downed teammates.
  • Blood Burner (Launch): Summons an indestructible, armored motorcycle capable of crossing water and emitting an energy pulse to neutralize foes.
  • Mid-Season Glitches and Exotic Fabricator

Later in the season, defeating a Strike Boss may trigger a Glitch, a rare event that pulls squads into corrupted C-Link data for a six-wave survival challenge. Successfully completing this grants Nightmare Skills. Additionally, the Exotic Fabricator will allow players to upgrade weapons to Exotic Rarity, adding random exotic effects and utility bonuses.

Multiplayer: Map Expansions and Returning Modes

This part aims to significantly expand the Multiplayer map pool and reintroduces classic modes to the rotation.

  • Launch and Mid-Season Map Rotations

Four maps are available at launch:

  • Torment: A small-sized map set within David Mason’s fragmented memories.
  • Sake: A medium-sized Japanese sake factory.
  • Nexus: A subzero testing facility designed for 6v6 and 2v2 combat.
  • Slums: A remastered medium-sized urban map originally from Black Ops 2.

The Mid-Season update will add Torque, Cliff Town (a reimagined version of “Yemen”), and a 20v20 Skirmish map titled Mission: Peak. Legendary maps Grind and Firing Range will also return from Black Ops 6, now featuring new Wall Jump opportunities.

  • Mode Additions and Seasonal Events

The classic escort mode Safeguard and the high-speed Overdrive mode return at launch. In-season limited-time offerings include Luck Confirmed (Lunar New Year-themed) and Solo Hearts Moshpit for Valentine’s Day. The Mid-Season update will introduce Gauntlet, a five-mode series challenge, and the fan-favorite Infected.

Zombies: Mars Survival and Paradox Junction

The Astra Malorum storyline continues with new survival maps and mechanical updates for the Zombies mode.

  • New Environments: Mars and Paradox Junction

At launch, the Mars survival map takes players to an ancient temple on the red planet, featuring the LGM-1 Wonder Weapon in the Mystery Box. Mid-season, the narrative shifts to Paradox Junction, a new Round-Based map overseen by a malevolent Warden.

  • Zombies Mode Variants and New Items
  • Cursed Survival (Launch): A high-difficulty variant with a pistol start and a Black Ops 3-inspired point system.
  • Starting Room (Launch): A permanent return of the challenge mode where players are confined to a map’s initial area.
  • Turncoat GobbleGum (Mid-Season): A Rare GobbleGum that charms nearby zombies to fight alongside the player.

Warzone: Rebirth Island Winter Refresh

Call of Duty: Warzone introduces a winter-themed update for Rebirth Island, altering visibility and tactical gameplay.

  • Environmental and Tactical Updates

Rebirth Island is now covered in snow, introducing visible footprints in certain areas and a Snowstorm Gas Circle that creates blizzard-like conditions. New points of interest include the Turbine sulfur plant and an unmarked Outpost facility. New tactical loot includes the RC-XD and the Smoke Screen killstreak, which deploys five shells of smoke cover.

  • Slot 1 Perk Refresh

Three new Slot 1 perks arrive at launch to replace existing options:

  • Field Medic: Increases revive speed and provides speed/armor boosts to revived allies.
  • Drill Instructor: Grants health regeneration after sprinting and boosts movement for nearby teammates.
  • Surveyor: Highlights enemies using Buy Stations or Contracts on the mini-map.

The Seasonal Arsenal: New Weaponry and Attachments

Seven new base weapons will be introduced throughout Season 02, alongside various conversion kits.

  • New Base Weapons
  • REV-46 (Launch): A high-fire-rate SMG (1,111 rpm) with a foldable stock.
  • EGRT-17 (Launch): An assault rifle that fires ricocheting superheated rounds.
  • H311-SAW (Launch): A melee rotating saw with moderate reach.
  • GDL Havoc (Launch): A pump-action special weapon firing remote-detonated sticky grenades.
  • SG-12 (In-Season): A semi-auto shotgun optimized for mid-range performance.
  • Voyak KT-3 & Swordfish A1 (Mid-Season): An assault rifle and a 4-round burst marksman rifle, respectively.
  • New Conversion Kits and Attachments

Notable additions include the XM325 Titan Wield for dual-wielding LMGs, the Razor 9mm Wildfire Conversion for extreme rapid fire, and the MXR-17 ANVL Conversion for increased damage output.

Ranked Play: Competitive Structure and Rewards

Both Black Ops 7 and Warzone Resurgence will feature Ranked Play starting in Season 02.

  • Competitive Systems
  • Multiplayer Ranked: Features CDL rules, maps, and modes (Hardpoint, Overload, Search & Destroy). Players must win 3 Placement Matches to receive a starting Rank.
  • Resurgence Ranked: Competitions take place in Trios on Haven’s Hollow with restricted loadouts and a specialized Skill Rating (SR) system.
  • Ranked Rewards

Players can earn exclusive Rank Skins, Camos, and Blueprints based on their skill division and seasonal win milestones. Finishing in the Top 250 globally grants the most prestigious rewards, including animated calling cards and specialized operator skins.
