A Little Backstory

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach once again stars Norman Reedus as Sam Bridges, the courier who reconnected a fractured America after a cataclysmic event unleashed otherworldly threats across Earth. In the sequel, Sam continues to navigate a world haunted by those creatures, while also dealing with hostile human factions that would rather see him dead.

Set eleven months after the first game, Sam has relocated to Australia. The mission is familiar but far more ambitious. This time, the stakes are global, and failure could mean nothing less than humanity’s extinction.

The cast remains stacked. Alongside Reedus, the game features Léa Seydoux, Troy Baker, Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, Luca Marinelli, Alastair Duncan, Alissa Jung, Debra Wilson, Tommie Earl Jenkins, George Miller, Fatih Akin, Guillermo del Toro, and Nicolas Winding Refn.

We played it, and we liked it. As with most projects directed by Hideo Kojima, the experience leans heavily into cinematic storytelling. Expect long cutscenes and deliberate pacing. Interestingly, Kojima has already admitted that the outline for a potential third game is largely finished.
