The Telltale games were in a class of their own in terms of gameplay immersion. Games like Telltale’s The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, released under the Telltale banner, delivered gripping stories, impressive visuals, captivating characters, and performance, and, most importantly, that unmistakable interactive, choice-based gameplay/story experience that drew many players in. It was devastating when the company had to shut down back in 2018.

Recently, some of the geniuses behind our favorite Telltale titles have banded together as AdHOC Studios and are set to release their first title, Dispatch, in October of 2025. The game adheres to many of the principles that made Telltale so beloved and promises to be an exciting new experience for fans of the interactive gaming model. Here’s everything we know about AdHOC’s Dispatch.

What is Dispatch About

Dispatch

Dispatch is a compelling management sim wrapped in a beautifully designed interactive game that gives you the feeling of playing out a story where every decision you make has lasting effects. The story follows Robert (Aaron Paul), a former superhero under the name Mecha-Man, as he attempts to fit into a new role in the superhero world as a dispatcher at SDN: a company that sends out super-powered individuals to areas around the city where they’re needed.

Taking control of Robert, you decide what combo of ā€œsuperheroesā€ you send to each area based on what is needed, how their powers complement each other, and sometimes by request.

It’s a skillfully made, story-driven experience that will have you genuinely feeling like you’re playing out episodes of your favorite animated TV show. With vibrant and expressive characters, a fun gameplay system, and skilled big-name actors, Dispatch promises a level of enjoyment that blends some of the best aspects of gaming, TV, and comic books.

Gameplay Style

From the Dispatch demo released in May 2025, we have a great deal of understanding of how the game plays. It is essentially a Dispatch management sim that requires you to be calculated, intentional, and involved with your devotions and dispatches.

Events pop up on your screen, and it’s your job to ascertain what kind of powers and skills are required to tackle the issue before sending out teams or squads to handle it. Certain missions give your team buffs, while others limit their abilities. Sometimes you might find yourself waiting for a cooldown, so you have to really plan out your dispatches with not just the issue at hand in mind, but future issues and surrounding issues.

Keep in mind, it’s not always straightforward; complications can arise if your team decides to wander off on their own rather than fulfill the mission. On the other hand, you get some pretty useful buffs from completing missions. You can also get an automatic pass in specific scenarios where the ā€œheroā€ you choose has skills or powers that match the situation perfectly.
