Epic Games Store has announced a new program to encourage gamers to buy more and more third-party PC games via its store. It will offer free Fortnite cosmetics when you purchase select third-party games via Epic. The official program was launched during the Epic Games Store 2025 Year in Review announcement. This yearly review is different from other annual wrap-ups, as it focuses only on the store’s performance in 2025 and does not share any data about gamers’ individual years.

Epic Games Store Teams Up with Third-Party Developers for Free Fortnite Cosmetics

The studio says its new program is meant to help third-party developers and studios sell more games on the store. It wants to take advantage of Fortnite’s marketing and popularity to take on rival PC games’ digital stores like Steam. Anyone who purchases a participating third-party game from the Epic Games Store will get a free Fortnite cosmetic along with a matching character avatar for their Epic account profile.

Epic revealed it has currently partnered with Capcom, miHoYo, Pearl Abyss, S-Game, MintRocket, and Kakao Games. It will announce more IPs in the coming months. Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil Requiem appears to be the first game included in the program. Epic is offering a free Grace Ashcroft Fortnite skin to everyone who pre-orders the game through its store. It is unknown if the free skin will be available only during the pre-order period or even after the release.

If we talk about the Epic Games Store 2025 Year in Review, players spent $400 million on third-party PC games throughout the year. This is a record earnings for the store and an impressive 57% growth. Epic says these numbers do not include earnings of games like Marvel Rivals, Valorant, GTA V, and EA Sports FC 26 because their developers process their own in-game payments and keep everything.

The Epic Games Store now has a library of over 6,000 games. It reached 78 million monthly active users this year, which is an all-time record for the store. Epic is widely known for offering free PC games throughout the year. It revealed players claimed 662 million free games in 2025.
