Epic Store is at it again, folks. As it became customary with the main Steam competitor, there are two games it’s giving away for free, but only for a time since, after that, they’ll return to the main catalog at full price.

And what time you may ask? Well, Thursday, November 27th. We know, kinda sudden and all that but hey, free is free, right?

At the moment, the games being thrown in the “Free” category of Epic Games Store are the following:

  • Godzilla Voxel Wars a strategy game based on TOHO’s iconic intellectual properties (of which Godzilla and all of its lore are part of), this title is essentially a board game where you face off against several of TOHO’s monsters in tactical manner, moving them around the board to optimal positions in order to make the best of their unique abilities.
  • Zoeti a turn-based, card-game roguelite that brings a unique gameplay mechanic of combining decks of cards in order to create combos and activate character skills throughout the match. The idea is to experiment with several combinations, discovering new features in real time and coming up with new strategies to power through ever more complicated levels.

There is also a third game that will become available for free on Epic Games Store starting November 27th — it’s called “Universe for Sale” and it consists of an engaging visual novel where, essentially, you’re a member of a cult.

We can’t really say much without spoiling the experience, but while we’ve yet to play it (we will, expect a review in the coming weeks), some quick internet sleuthing tells us it involves a story of personal detachment under the guise of universe creation.

Granted, visual novels are not my cup of tea but, like we stated earlier: it’s all free, so where’s the harm, eh?

How to redeem Epic Games Store free games

The Epic Games Store “Free” category is always renewing its own catalog every week. Sometimes, it brings a single game, sometimes two, but always changing the offer every week.

Granted, none of the games are “new” per se — what Epic does is pull some titles from the main catalog and axe the price completely for a week, then return it to full price afterwards.

Also, most of the time, the free games offered by the store are lesser known, like indie projects and under budgeted developments. There are, however, the occasional AAA offer, which is always interesting. The upside is, as PC games, they’re not very demanding when it comes to hardware, and most of them will run just fine with a three-to-five year old graphics card, like NVIDIA’s GeForce 3050 or AMD’s Radeon RX 6600 — some even less than that

Either way, in order to redeem your Epic Games Store free games, here’s what you should do:

  • Visit the Epic Games Store Free Games page.
  • Browse through the list of free games available for the week and click on the ones you wanna claim (usually, the most recent offers will show up first).
  • Click the “Get” Button, add it to your shopping cart and complete the checkout process.
  • After that, you wanna head down to your account’s game library to find your games, click on them and find the “Download and Install” option.

It is important to note that, once added to your library, these games are yours forever, regardless of them being thrown back into full price. So, for a third time, free is free: go enjoy your games!

Oh, and if you’re on the market for some properly priced, premium experiences, Epic is hosting its annual Black Friday Sale (which we talked about here) and there’s always seasonal events to be on the lookout, like Halloween or Summer sales.
