Ubisoft has officially confirmed the Far Cry 3 60fps support release date. The announcement came through a post on X, followed by an update trailer video. The update will make Far Cry 3 the latest Ubisoft classic to get higher frame rate support for a smoother gameplay experience. The good thing is that the studio has no intentions of stopping here. In a dedicated teaser shared on social media, it hinted at Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Far Cry Primal as two more titles set to receive 60fps support.
Far Cry 3 60fps Update Release Date Revealed
The announcement video confirmed Far Cry 3 60fps support update will arrive on January 21 on PlayStation 5. It was uploaded exclusively on the PlayStation YouTube channel. The announcement post reads, “A once-in-a-lifetime vacation. Unspoiled nature. Open skies. Everything runs smoother at 60 FPS on current-gen consoles. Pack light. Things escalate fast.”
This is a description that should instantly take you back to the days of playing Far Cry 3 for the first time. If you have not played the game yet, it is definitely worth a try as it is widely considered one of the best Far Cry games. Its antagonist, Vaas Montenegro, is a cult classic and is among the best video game villains ever. The game’s story revolves around a group of friends who visit Bangkok, Thailand, for a vacation. However, things take an unexpected turn during a skydiving trip when they accidentally find themselves on a pirate-ruled island, Rook Islands, and are captured by Vaas. You will play as Jason Brody, whose objective is to save his friends and escape the island.
Far Cry Blood Dragon and Far Cry Primal 60fps Support Coming Soon
Ubisoft has plans to release Far Cry Blood Dragon and Far Cry Primal 60fps support update soon. It shared a teaser hinting at the 60fps update for these two titles on X. The release date is unknown but some rumors suggest the update will be released on January 21 alongside the Far Cry 3 update.
Blood Dragon is a standalone expansion for Far Cry 3. It offers a first-person shooting gameplay with its setting inspired by 80s action movies, video games, and cartoons. You play as Sergeant Rex Colt, a military cyborg, who takes on the game’s villian Blood Dragon, a dinosaur that can fire lasers from its eyes, on a remote island. As for Far Cry Primal, the game’s story takes place during the Paleolithic period (around 10,000 B.C.) where you play as a hunter. This means you do not have access to any of the staple modern Far Cry weapons. However, the protagonist has special powers to tame animals that prove to be helpful in combat.
