Xbox is testing cloud gaming and PC features for Game Pass Core and Standard users

So, after a crap-ton of questionable decisions and layoffs, it seems Xbox is poised to make something worth of its longtime brand—improving Game Pass offers to its massive user base.

According to a recent Microsoft blog post, Game Pass users who subscribed to the service’s cheapest tiers—those being the Core and Standard plans— are now getting cloud gaming and PC perks coming their way. While the new feature hasn’t rolled out to everyone yet, Xbox Insiders members can already test it out.

It is worth noting, however, that this doesn’t have the same level of other, superior subscription tiers, as this is a limited offer. The new benefit essentially extends to each plan’s available library (50 games for Core; 400 games for Standard, give or take).

Alongside the game streaming capacity, Microsoft will also bring PC-console crossplay to some of those titles, meaning that, if you started a match or session on the Xbox Series S|X, you can quit it and continue later on the PC. That’s the same capacity you get with the “Play Anywhere” feature, only somewhat more accessible.

This is likely due to the fact that the recently-announced Rog Xbox Ally portable platform arrives in October and, well, let’s just say “game streaming” and “crossplay” are two terms that fit that kind of console very, very well.

At any rate, you can check out Microsoft’s blog post for more info: the Game Pass Coreplan starts at $10 a month, while the Standard tier comes at a monthly $15 cost.
