Xbox’s official app on Windows has revealed the official Gears of War: Reloaded file sizes. And while they’re somewhat larger than your average current-gen title, they’re nothing too crazy, fortunately.
It is worth noting that Gears of War: Reloaded is also a remaster—not a remake— of the original game of the franchise, which came out in the ancient eons of…2006. This new version, however, does bring a few quality-of-life updates that weren’t even dreamed about some 20-ish years ago, so we have to take that into account.
Anyways, read on for a full breakdown of the game.

Gears of War: Reloaded: Everything You Need to Know
Who’s making it

Gears of War: Reloaded is being (re)done by a joint effort led by The Coalition, as well as Disbelief and Sumo Interactive. We obviously know about The Coalition, as the Canadian studio formerly known as “Zipline” was acquired by Microsoft in the early 2010s and, ever since the Xbox-maker acquired the rights to Gears of War, this is the brand responsible for making the franchise’s games: The Coalition signs Gears of War 4 and 5, among other titles, for instance.
Sumo Interactive is also pretty well-known in the industry, being responsible for things like Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Hood: Outlaws and Legends. Finally, Disbelief is the one behind the distribution of titles such as Borderlands 3, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and…. a bunch of Gears of War games.
All in all, a pretty solid, track-record-proven team…
When is it coming out

August 26 is the date you’re looking for, as Gears of War: Reloaded lands on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S, in addition to being available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass and supporting Play Anywhere on Windows and Xbox Series X/S. Considering there are a lot of good stuff coming out this month, that’s a cool offering, especially if you consider this is the first entry of the entire franchise on a PlayStation platform.
It is also worth noting that Reloaded is a remaster of a remaster, in practical terms, as The Coalition also launched Gears of War: Ultimate Edition back in 2015, so everything that game had, this one will probably have as well, only more…up to date on today’s platforms.
Can Your PC Run It

Ah, here’s where we get to the meaty bits: you see, Gears of War: Reloaded will require a chunky storage space on PC and Xbox platforms. PlayStation 5’s file size is yet to be confirmed, but since both consoles rarely differ much on that parameter, it is a safe bet that it’ll be around the same number.
And what numbers are those, you might asking with fists on the air accusing us of stalling? Well, 68.7GB on the Xbox Series X|S and 70.3GB on PC, and we’ll go out on a limb here and say that the PS5 version will algo stick with the 67GB to 70GB range.
All in all, that’s a juicy size, but not too crazy: some games from a few years back easily go upwards to 100GB (such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, to name a few), so, while nothing to scoff at, Gears of War: Reloaded stands right in the middle of the mid-to-heavy category.

Tell me About the New Stuff

Gears of War: Reloaded will bring everything Ultimate Edition had in its day from the get go. Since this is a remaster, it won’t deviate too much from the previous offer, although it will bring some new shiny stuff to the table.
The new game will support high dynamic range (HDR) and variable refresh rate (VRR) displays. Also, spatial audio technology support comes with the package. Reloaded will also have every DLC released for Ultimate Edition, including the bonus campaign from the original Windows release, multiplayer maps and player cosmetics.
Also, players who connect through a Microsoft Account will unlock full cross-progression for the campaign and multiplayer components across all platforms, as well as cross-platform invites for multiplayer and the co-op campaign.Oh, right. The game is also available for purchase on Amazon (official Microsoft store, although we only managed to find the PS5 version), for delivery promised to September 5th.
