So, Ghost of Yotei is awesome, and at least 3.3 million people can vouch for that: that’s the number that Sony has confirmed through a new financial report it recently put out, in regards to the game’s first month after release.
For the record, its predecessor — Ghost of Tsushima — made 2.4 million sales on its first three days, 5 million after 118 days and, nowadays, it amounts to a 13 million total, so Sony-backed Sucker Punch Studios must’ve done something right, considering the amount of unnecessary flack Ghost of Yotei got from the most…ahem…”less-than-friendly-towards-women-protagonists” crowd.
Not only that, but Tsushima came out by the end of the PlayStation 4 cycle, with a much larger base of consumers, so it had that going for it, too. Furthermore, Ghost of Yotei sales refer to the base game alone, while we can be certain that future projects like the “Ghost of Yotei Legends” multiplayer add-on, the pretty obvious PC release and the likely “Director’s Cut” re-release, if Ghost of Tsushima is any indication, will probably jack those numbers up as well.

Since Sony released the new numbers without any commentary, it’s hard to know if the 3.3 million sales mark is something the company is happy with, sad with or indifferent. Given our review on the game, plus the 93% favorable rating on sites like OpenCritic, though, we’re going out on a limb and bet on the former.
Furthermore, Ghost of Yotei is lousy with easter eggs connecting both games, and between melee weapons, ranged weapons, charms, armors and other equipment to collect, you’re likely to dedicate a good chunk of time on this one.
If you do, make sure to tell us what you think in the comments!
