New Hollow Knight patch amplifies support as the new Switch 2 version comes around

Following Nintendo’s latest stream’s announcement of a Switch 2 version, Team Cherry has put out a new Hollow Knight patch that adds a lot of new stuff for whoever intends on purchasing the new, old release.

As such the Hollow Knight Patch 1.5.12459 is already up for grabs and, for anyone who has the game installed, the download should come automatically across all platforms including the Switch 2.

Having said that, despite the good looking trailer from yesterday (see below), gamers should not expect anything new in terms of content — this is the first game and Silksong is still making tons of waves and even has a DLC coming, after all. The biggest highlight of the new Hollow Knight patch comes in the form of resolution upgrade support, as now the game is also viewable in 21:9 and 16:10 framing.

Other changes include a much welcome automatic pause whenever navigating through the menus and broader controller support via Unity Input System.

  • Added support for 21:9 & 16:10 resolutions.
  • Game now pauses while in inventory menus.
  • Upgraded to Unity Input System for broader controller support (original input system is still available, if preferred, via Options>Controller>Advanced Settings)
  • Added dithering effect, and dithering options, to reduce colour banding.
  • Fixed a softlock in City of Tears Grub room.
  • Reduced Grey Prince Zote’s stagger bounce height.
  • Updated Sly’s Great Slash collider to closer match visual.
  • Salubra’s Blessing now deactivates after reaching max Soul.
  • Map panning is now smoother.
  • Various performance improvements.
  • Various smaller fixes and tweaks.
