The wait for 007 First Light, a James Bond game and one of the most anticipated titles of 2026, has just got longer. IO Interactive has announced the game’s release has now been pushed back by two months. This means 007 First Light will now arrive on May 27, 2026 instead of the previously set March 27, 2026. The reason for the delay is said to be the need for extra time to polish the game further to ensure best possible gameplay performance and experience.
007 First Light Delay to Help With Game’s Long-Term Success
Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, posted the official announcement on social media platforms. He revealed that 007 First Light is progressing well and it is fully playable from beginning to the end. The team is looking for extended time only for improvement purposes. The newly announced release date is said to set up the game for a long-term success.
The statement reads,
007 First Light is our most ambitious project to date, and the team has been fully focused on delivering an unforgettable James Bond experience, bringing together breathtaking action, globe-trotting, spycraft, gadgets, car chases, and more. As an independent developer and publisher, this decision allows us to ensure the experience meets the level of quality you players deserve on day one. The game is progressing well and is fully playable from beginning to end, so these additional two months will allow us to further polish and refine the experience, ensuring we deliver the strongest possible version at launch.
For the uninitiated, 007 First Light is an upcoming game featuring a re-imagined, standalone James Bond origin story. You will play a young James Bond who must complete a mission to become an elite “00” agent. The game will have all the elements you would expect from a James Bond story, like car chases, gadgets, and intense action.
