One of Mikhail’s definitively favorite releases of 2025 is getting new stuff added to it, as Hangar 13 studios confirmed a new Mafia: The Old Country update that adds cars, a new camera mode and even brings back a classic difficulty if you feel like a new challenge is necessary for you to replay a four-month old game.

The new stuff is supposed to arrive tomorrow in the form of a free download, as patches usually are, but the entire roster of new features do seem promising — so much so they even got a trailer of their own, which you can see below.

The new content is part of what the studio calls “The Free Ride Update” and all of the next Mafia: The Old Country update changes are listed below:

  • Free Ride Mode: This mode is the highlight of the update and allows players to experience Mafia: The Old Country’s vision of 1900s Sicily, explore the environment at their own pace, and take on a series of new Challenges. This mode focuses primarily on new gameplay content and does not affect Enzo’s narrative journey.
  • First-Person Driving: This feature is officially supported for the first time in the franchise history, providing the most immersive way to experience the Valle Dorata from the driver’s seat, including new detailed car interiors and a close-up view of character animations.
  • Photo Mode: This mode allows players to pause the action and capture the scenery — be it the beautiful Sicilian vistas or the most exciting moment in a firefight. It includes tweakable variables like Field of View (FOV), Focal Distance/Aperture, Styling (Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Camera Tilt), various Filters (including Cinema Siciliano and Cinema Siciliano Sepia), and display options (Show Player Character, Show Other Characters, Show Grid).
  • Cinema Siciliano Mode: A dramatic new mode designed to evoke classic Italian cinema, further immersing players into the era. It applies a moody black-and-white visual treatment, convincingly vintage-sounding audio, sets Sicilian VO by default, and uses clutter-free contextual UI for a more cinematic feel.
  • Classic Difficulty: This difficulty setting returns for those seeking a greater level of challenge, taking cues from the original Mafia and Mafia: Definitive Edition. In this mode, enemies are deadlier, health regeneration is sparse, and unspent bullets are lost upon reloading. It can be played in the main campaign or Free Ride mode
  • Sundial: While exploring in Free Ride mode, players can shift the weather and time of day via an interactable sundial found in the Vineyard and Enzo’s apartment. The four available options are Sunrise, Afternoon, Foggy, and Ashfall.
  • New Challenges: a total of 21 named challenges are coming with the Free Ride Update. Challenges are unlocked based on main story Chapter completion and are generally completed at three increasing reward tiers, providing Dinari (in-game currency) to spend at Pasquale’s store. New items unlock in the store as Challenges progress in sequence, those being…
    • Car & Horse Races
    • Circuit Race
    • Road Sprint
    • Time Trial
  • Combat Challenges
    • Standoff
    • Assassination
  • Secrets/Hidden Content
    • Secrets Awaiting Discovery
  • New Collectible Items: All new weapons, Charms, cars, and outfits are fully usable in the main campaign
  • Outfits: 16 new Outfits were added
  • Hats: 3 new Hats were added (can be equipped with any outfit)
  • Knives: 4 new Knives were added
  • Guns: 3 new Guns were added
  • Charms: 3 new Charms were added.
  • Cars: 2 new Cars were added
