Fresh off the release of the game’s Season 4 update, Marvel Rivals developer NetEase has officially revealed the game’s first-ever Zombie Mode experience, through a brand new…”Marvel Rivals Zombie Mode” (we never promised naming creativity, here). The new mode is set to launch on October 23, across all platforms.
As a collaboration with Marvel Animation, the Marvel Rivals Zombie mode is largely based on the Zombies comic series, challenging players to survive against wave after wave of decaying dead enemies of various shapes and sizes.
Check out the trailer below and, after that, a full breakdown.
Marvel Rivals Zombie Mode: Everything there is to know
Who are the playable Marvel Rivals characters in the new mode
As new game modes go, NetEase is taking this one pretty seriously, preferring a more cautious approach. As it is, the new Marvel Rivals Zombie mode features a select team of five characters joining forces to combat the horde:
- Thor
- Jeff
- Magik
- Blade
- The Punisher
Yes, Jeff the Land Shark is there, because why in the world would “Marvel Rivals Zombies” get in the way of extremely amazing cuteness?

According to the publisher, players will not only fight the standard zombies but also face powerful foes like Zombie Namor and the Queen of the Dead (an alternate version of the Scarlet Witch, in Marvel lore).
Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo says each hero will receive unique abilities tailored for the PvE experience. For instance, Thor will have a persistent Awakened state to shock nearby zombies, while Jeff can utilize a powerful charge ability through enemies.
Marvel Rivals Zombie Mode availability
The terrifying new mode will be rolled out across all major platforms Marvel Rivals is on — those being PC (Windows, through Steam, Epic Games Store and NetEase’s own page), PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X|S. This release arrives roughly one month after the debut of the Marvel Zombies streaming series on Disney+.
For those looking to get into the game, details regarding the Marvel Rivals download are available on the respective platform stores, but basically, all you have to do is access the desired platform, find the game’s page and get it because, you know…it’s free.
