In a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point drop that perfectly matches The Wolverine’s energy, Insomniac Games announced today, “Let’s cut to the chase: Marvel’s Wolverine Launches September 15, 2026.” The reveal came accompanied by a punchy six-second trailer on X, flashing the game’s gritty key art, with Wolverine mid-snarl, claws extended, before slamming on the date on the screen. No fluff, just pure hype. This is one of the most anticipated game releases in an already stacked year. Here’s everything we know about Marvel’s Wolverine, so far.
Release Date & Early Access

As mentioned previously, Wolverine slashes his way onto our consoles on September 15, 2026. As for early access, there is none. This is a standard full-release game with no early access, beta, or deluxe early unlock tiers announced.
Platforms on Release

Marvel’s Wolverine exists within the same universe as the Insomniac Spider-Man games, and like those games, it is a PlayStation exclusive. The game was built from the ground up for current-gen PS5 hardware and won’t be available anywhere else on launch. However, it’s safe to expect a PC port later during the game’s lifespan, following the same pattern as the Insomniac Spider-Man games.
Price

The game is not yet listed (pre-orders are not open; only “add to wishlist” is live on the PlayStation store). However, we expect the standard AAA PS5 price of around $59.99 to $69.99 USD for the base edition. There has been no word on a Deluxe or Collector’s edition as of yet.
Game Engine

Marvel’s Wolverine runs on Insomniac’s proprietary in-house engine (an evolved version of the tech used for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart). It is not Unreal Engine 5. The engine powers advanced, dynamic blood/gore that interacts with environments in visceral, M-rated ways, very fitting for a character like Wolverine.
Confirmed Characters

Wolverine/Logan: The main protagonist of this highly anticipated title. Wolverine is played by Australian actor Liam McIntyre (Spartacus, Gears of War as JD Fenix). Liam provides his voice and likeness, and from what we’ve seen, he does a great job of capturing Wolverine’s rough and animalistic, yet precise and calculated demeanor.
Mystique: Marvel Comics’ blue shapeshifter and one of the most prominent faces in the X-Men comics, movies, and TV shows, is confirmed to appear in this game.
Omega Red: One of Wolverine’s most bitter rivals is also confirmed to make an appearance.
You will encounter some familiar faces throughout your journey with Wolverine in this game. Some will fight by his side, most will want him dead.
Story and Setting

This game is a stand-alone single-player action-adventure in the same shared universe as the Insomniac Spider-Man games (Earth-1048). It is an original global thriller that draws heavily on Marvel Comics lore while telling a self-contained story.
It will feature a darker, more brutal vibe that sets it apart from the Spider-Man games in the same universe.
As with all Wolverine stand-alone takes, expect a dark and brutal tone.
Key locations teased:
Madripoor Slums
Canadian Wilderness
Tokyo Back Alleys
And many other exotic global battlegrounds.
Gameplay Highlights

Marvel’s Wolverine promises fast, fluid, ferocious third-person combat centered around close-quarters combat using Wolverine’s adamantium claws: dismembering, impaling, berserker rage modes, and a lot of gore. The signature Insomniac polish promises excellent DualSense haptics/trigger effects, robust accessibility options, and visceral environmental destruction. While it may not be a full open-world sandbox, Marvel’s Wolverine offers focused lines-to-semi-open levels and an M-rating for extreme violence.
As one of the bigger titles in this stacked 2026 and as a game focused on one of the most popular comic book characters, the excitement around Marvel’s Wolverine is palpable and justified.
Wishlist it now on the PlayStation Store; we will be ready with updates as soon as pre-order and full edition details are released.
