Nintendo will launch Metroid Prime 4: Beyond on December 4th on Switch and Switch 2 and, as the game’s release date approaches, the publisher has put out a new trailer, highlighting gameplay features and all the new stuff that it’ll bring.
The video, which can be seen below, showcases a lot of the core mechanics, but also gives way for lots of new things that the Metroid Prime 4 gameplay will use to spice things up quite a bit.
In the game, lead character Samus Aran ends up on a planet called Viewros. For reasons yet undisclosed by Nintendo, gaming’s most famous bounty hunter gets psychic powers, which she can use to redirect her shots and operate mechanisms. She will also use a new motorcycle — or “Vi-0-La”, in the game’s jargon — to navigate through a landscape full of enemies. Oh, and Metroid Prime Hunter’s Sylux (who also appeared in 2016’s Metroid Prime: Federation Force), Samus’ rival bounty hunter, is also in the game at some yet-unknown capacity.
Seeing the Metroid Prime 4 gameplay looking so slick and fine-tuned is surely a boon that will calm some of the most anxious fans: initially, the game’s development was under responsibility of Bandai Namco, but Nintendo, in 2019, was unhappy with what they had by then, taking the project away from them and restarting the whole thing under Retro Studios and longtime producer Kensuke Tanabe.
Nearly five years later, we now have something close to launch, as the Metroid Prime 4 release date approaches, with a new console to include in the company’s portfolio to boot. Here’s hoping this one kills it!
