A new video from Capcom just dropped and guess what? It’s Monster Hunter Wilds…wild stuff: in the new footage (seen below), series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto teased what’s to come for the action RPG franchise’s latest entry.
Spoiler: we’re getting a new expansion. Another spoiler: it will be the last one.
“We are currently at work on a large-scale expansion similar to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak for Monster Hunter: Wilds. We plan to share more information with you this summer.”
Tsujimoto did not reveal any other detail about the new, upcoming expansion, so its direction is anyone’s guess at this point. But the producer did state that the Monster Hunter Wilds team is “hard at work” on it, so we might hear more about it sooner rather than later.
The next Monster Hunter Wilds update will be all about celebration
The video also addresses other, minor updates, like the collaboration with Monster Hunter Stories 3 — which was a fun tidbit to know, given the fact that this game, specifically, is not even out yet (release date is set on March 13th, for PS5, Xbox Series S|X, Switch 2 and PC).
Other talking points in the video above include:
Here is the refined list of information from the source video, condensed into five entries and excluding details regarding the major expansion and the Monster Hunter Stories 3 collaboration:

- 1st Anniversary Celebration: To mark the game’s first anniversary on February 28, 2025, a month-long in-game event will be held. During this period, players can receive a special login item pack and participate in past seasonal events that will return to the Assembly Area on a one-week rotation cycle.
- High-Difficulty 10-star Quests: The update introduces Arch-Tempered Arushito and new marathon hunting quests at a 10-star difficulty level. These quests, along with four returning Arch-Tempered monster missions, offer hunters a higher chance to obtain high-rarity talismans from “Old Charms.”
- Community-Driven Content and Rewards: Based on player data, a special quest will feature the least-hunted monster with specific adjustments to provide a unique challenge. Additionally, an event quest will grant the winning Great Sword and charm from the design contest, and the names of the 16 contest winners will be added to the game’s staff credits.
- System Updates and Permanent Access: Starting February 18, certain event quests will become permanently available. The update also includes further quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback and provides quests to obtain new equipment, such as the Labiakada Res Alpha and Star Cat Alpha armor sets.
- Monster Hunter Festa ’26 and Final Challenge: A physical event, Monster Hunter Festa ’26, will take place on February 22 at Makuhari, featuring the “Wilds Hunting Championship 2026” and various exhibits. In-game, players can also take on the final Free Challenge Quest featuring Arch-Tempered Arushiberuto.
All in all, it seems Capcom is readying itself to move on from Monster Hunter Wilds with a major bang. The roadmap listed above is pretty solid with content to keep fans busy while the final DLC doesn’t show up. And when that does show up, if Iceborn and Sunbreak are any indication, then it’s gonna be a big, lasting one.
I’m not the most prolific monster hunter in the franchise, but color me curious — and hoping — that Deviljho makes an appearance. Not only is it a tough fight that challenges all of my swearing vocabulary, but it has become a series staple at this point, kinda like every Final Fantasy game having a Chocobo or someone named “Cid”: it’s one of those things that are just bound to happen.
I mean, it’s so popular it has its own set of merch at Amazon, from keychains and stickers to mugs and t-shirts…
