Sony has officially released a new PlayStation Family app to help parents manage PS4 and PS5 parental controls and children’s playtime conveniently. The dedicated app is available for both Android and iOS devices via the Google Play Store and App Store respectively. The main objective of the app is to eliminate the need to be near the gaming console and turn it on for managing parental controls and other related settings.

PlayStation Family App Features
Sony describes the PlayStation Family app as a dedicated hub for all your parental control needs. The app offers an easy-to-follow process for setting up your child’s account. It will offer real-time notifications whenever your child is playing a video game on the PlayStation. You can restrict games that you would not want them to play. You can even communicate easily with children through the app.
The app lets parents set individual playtime limits for each day of the week. This will allow you to adjust playtime based on your children’s current school schedule. Children can ask for extra playtime, and parents can choose to approve or decline directly on the app.
PlayStation Family will offer daily and weekly reports about your children’s playtime and activity. This will give you a better idea of what your children are up to, when, and for how long. One of the major issues for parents is related to unwanted expenses from children on the PlayStation Store. The app will make it easier to manage store spending by setting a monthly spend limit. You can also add and manage PS Store funds through the app.
The app offers preset content filters for different age groups. These help in ensuring your children are not accessing any age-inappropriate content. The best part is that PlayStation Family gives you the freedom to adjust these filters as per your preference. Similarly, you can manage social features for children to decide who they connect with.
