So Silent Hill has made a comeback in the best way—solid remake of 2, Silent Hill: F, a remake of the first game in development. Things are objectively looking very bright and vibrant for the series. That being said, let’s go back to when things weren’t looking so good. After the abysmal Downpour, the series looked like it was in pretty rough shape. A stunning introduction of a promising title – PT Playable Teaser

source: E! News
So PT was supposed to be a teaser for the much-anticipated Silent Hills. The project was to be helmed by Hideo Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro, and starring Walking Dead fan favorite Norman Reedus. Due to the conflicts behind the scenes, the project was scrapped and the series lay dormant for a decade. That being said, PT would take off with a legacy all its own and is considered to be one of the greatest horror titles ever made.
The Horror begins

The gameplay is very simple and to the point. You wake up disoriented in a dark room, open the door, and find yourself in the hallway of a nondescript home. Then you walk… and that’s about it. You walk around in loops and see the hall become more and more decrepit, decaying, and hear some very disturbing radio broadcasts of a family being brutally murdered. You then hear the sounds of a crying baby, find what looks to be an aborted fetus, and are stalked by a horrifying ghost woman.
Lasting legacy

Obviously, since this was only meant to be a teaser, the plot is loose and minimal. But what is crazy to think is just how memorable this game was for what was essentially a demo. When this title was delisted from the digital store, consoles with this game downloaded went for outrageous prices on eBay and Amazon. Its legacy is profound and still felt today—being the influence for various indie titles and even major releases such as Resident Evil 7. PT was something special, and it was shameful how this and Silent Hills were tossed to the wayside. However, there is hope yet; various fan remakes are available to play, most notably on the PS5 title Dreams. Check it out and see just how this teaser became a certified classic in and of itself.
Verdict: 9/10
