Everybody remembers Resident Evil 5’s Sheva Alomar, right? She’s the one in that game where Chris Redfield punches a boulder — a memefiable moment in the annals of memefiable moments if I ever heard of one…

Anyway, back to Sheva, it seems Ms. Alomar might make a comeback in the Resident Evil franchise. Now, what follows is pure, unchecked speculation, but you know how these rumors go: Capcom tried to play coy about Leon in Resident Evil Requiem and look how that turned out…
As pointed out by Game Rant, Sheva Alomar’s actress Eva La Dare shared an intriguing post on her X/Twitter profile, saying she’ll have “things” to say in March. Now, this alone would never warrant anything, true, but she did use the Resident Evil 30th anniversary hashtag on the same post. For those not in the known, March 22, 1996 is the release date of the original Resident Evil game (ironically, Resident Evil 5 will turn 17 in the same month, being released in 2009 for the PS3 and Xbox 360).
The return of Sheva Alomar is likely not in videogame form
Now, here’s where things get speculative: as far as we know, and many a leaker has stated this as well, there is no Resident Evil 5 related project in the works at Capcom. I know we got several remakes by now, up until the fourth linear title. But for the fifth, nothing is in the works as far as we can see.
However, Makoto Fukami, the writer of the Resident Evil: Vendetta and Resident Evil: Death Island CG movies, has stated in fairly recent interviews that he would love to do a similar project highlighting characters Sheva Alomar and Barry Burton. In fact, a conceptual idea would put both characters in the lead on a plot in Antarctica.

Granted, Capcom did not confirm or deny anything of the sort — and the Japanese publisher is heavily involved in the movies since, you know, they own the IP and all. So don’t take Fukami’s words as a potential announcement.
Still, 30 years is a pretty awesome milestone to achieve, and given that Resident Evil is on the cusp of attaining said number, it seems the pieces just might fall into place, if such a project does become a reality.
