Ubisoft has finally released the much-awaited The Crew 2 offline mode. The new mode is officially named Hybrid Mode. This is because it lets players choose whether they want to play The Crew 2 online or offline. The mode was first announced at The Crew Showcase 2024, but after a long wait, it is finally available worldwide. Here is everything you need to know.

How to Play The Crew 2 Offline Mode?

The Crew 2 offline mode is available as a free update on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. When you are connected to the internet while launching the game, it will ask whether you want to play online or offline. The game will automatically launch in offline mode when you are not connected to the internet.

The Crew 2 Offline Mode Features and Other Details

While the new mode will let you play The Crew 2 offline, you will have to miss out on a few features, as the game’s main focus is on multiplayer gameplay. The following features will be unavailable during the offline mode:

  • Crew Credits purchases (vehicle bundles, vanity items) and the Far & Beyond shop in all 4 Hubs
  • LIVE Summits
  • All multiplayer content, including PvP, Crews, crew features, news feed, leaderboards, ghosts, and statistics menus. Only your own best times will be recorded per race
  • UGC features, including the Race Creator and Livery Editor. Custom liveries will not transfer to offline saves
  • Some Hobbies and Achievements (Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Ubisoft Connect) that require online-only actions

One important thing to note is that The Crew 2 will create two separate save files for offline and online modes. It will let you export your Online progress to the offline mode, but the opposite is not possible. This means all of your offline progress will stay offline and will not be a part of your online progress.

Players can choose to export online progress to offline whenever and as many times as they want. The only catch is that every time you do that, the new save file will overwrite your previous offline save. This will result in offline progress getting deleted.

Ubisoft had to work on and release The Crew 2 offline mode after it found itself in the middle of a controversy and lawsuit last year. The studio removed The Crew from stores without offering an offline mode. This resulted in the game becoming unplayable for players, even though they purchased the title. The Crew Motorfest is also confirmed to receive an offline mode, but the release date is currently unknown.
