10. Alex Mason

A CIA operative and main protagonist of the Black Ops. Mason has seen action all over the globe—Cuba, Vietnam, Russia, Panama, etc. With his right-hand man and best friend Frank Woods, you can always count on them to make sure that they will operate with surgical precision. One thing Mason has more than courage is his durability, and even more so than that is his adaptability and master planning. Helping Viktor Reznov stage an uprising in Vorkuta and actually escape from one of the most brutal gulags in the Soviet Union shows this man is a freaking force of nature—mentally and physically.

9. David Mason

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree—an apple full of spunk, bravery, and mental fortitude. David, as a child, was kidnapped by the ruthless drug lord Raul Menendez, who swore revenge for what David’s father did to him. Years later, in Black Ops 2, he is now the commander of the elite SEAL Team 6. At this point, the world is a powder keg about to explode—the world’s two superpowers are locked in a new Cold War, and David is doing everything to make sure the group Cordis Die doesn’t spark the ignition to light the world aflame. After tactical operations in Asia and Latin America, he makes sure that the militant group can no longer expand and picks apart Menendez’s influence piece by piece until he has nothing left.
8. Simon “Ghost” Riley

Cool dude with an even cooler mask. Ghost, with his skull balaclava and sarcastic dry wit, is one of Task Force 141’s most popular and iconic characters. As his name suggests, this man will deliver a death from the shadows you will never see coming. When 141 was on the tracks of Makarov’s arms dealer, Rojas, he made sure that he was captured—and you can be damn sure he made the man talk. That’s what he’s all about: get in, get the intel, and get out like a phantom of the night.
7. Raul Menendez

A deranged drug lord with a Shakespearean aura and a fiery vendetta against David Mason. Growing up in the slums of Nicaragua, he saw death, misery, and greed become the very fabric of life. When a U.S. expat burned down a barn that he and his sister were taking shelter in for insurance money, his hatred for the capitalist world and the U.S. was solidified. Since then, he has devoted his life to burning that world to the ground and dismantling the system. With over 2 billion followers worldwide, a seemingly endless supply of resources, and genius intellect, he has become one of the best and most three-dimensional villains in the series.
6. Frank Woods

A high-strung, cynical, sarcastic Korean War vet with a penchant for not giving a f@ck what out-of-touch higher-ups think. Woods is Mason’s best friend and right-hand man and has been since the very beginning. Their various battles in Vietnam, Cuba, and Afghanistan have shown this is a man of loyalty and honor. Besides his competence in battle, he is also known for his resilience and cheating death MANY times. Surviving the infamous Hanoi Hilton, being captured by Menendez in a storage crate of corpses, and STILL not throwing in the towel after being confined to a wheelchair shows this is one stubborn SOB who refuses to die.
5. Makarov

A sociopathic ultranationalist who wants nothing more than for Russia to take its place on top of Europe—even if it must be reduced to ashes. A man so radical that even others in the ultranationalist group have kept their distance. A master tactician with NO regard for human life, he initiated the infamous airport massacre and staged the circumstances of the Russian invasion of the U.S.A. He will stop at NOTHING to obtain power and will kill even his closest associates if they get in his way. Seriously, this guy is more cold-blooded than the fiercest of Siberian winters.
4. Soap

A man known for his distinct mohawk, Scottish accent, and remarkable fruit-killing skills. Initially disregarded as a “muppet” who shouldn’t have even made it through training, he becomes one of the best and brightest to ever grace the ranks of Task Force 141 and Captain Price’s closest and most trusted friend. When Price was taken prisoner by Makarov, he took up the reins and led some of the toughest missions in Russia and Central Asia, while taking Roach under his wing. Busting Price out of the gulag, he united with his old friend to take down Makarov and put an end to the madness he had unleashed upon the world.
3. Farrah

A freedom fighter who hails from Urzikstan. Growing up, all she ever knew was misery and woe. When she was a child, a rogue Russian general—under the guise of counter-terrorism—launched a full-scale attack on her country. Immediately, the troops occupying the land showed no mercy, and a brutal occupation began. She saw her father killed right in front of her and was imprisoned as a child. Years later, she led a prison revolt against her captors, formed a militia group, and declared war against the occupiers. She is a woman of courage, strength, and resistance against the grave injustices faced by her nation and people.
2. Captain Price

A cigar-smoking, boonie hat-wearing, mutton chop-having face of Task Force 141. He is a badass wrapped in a British flag. He led many missions such as the ship raid in Crew Expendable, various raids on ultranationalist camps, and the capture of Khaled Al-Asad. Even before he was the leader of Task Force 141, he was already an established operative with a steady hand, patience, and wit. Years ago, he and his captain went on an assassination mission in Chernobyl to take out the infamous terrorist Imran Zakhaev. That mission is what set in motion the entirety of the original Modern Warfare trilogy. His bravery and unconventional methods—like literally using a nuke as a giant EMP grenade and raiding his archnemesis Makarov’s safe house with Juggernaut armor—are what make his actions as courageous as they are crazy.
1. Viktor Reznov

The bravest, most badass soldier to ever grace this series. This is a man who has seen the absolute worst humanity has ever had to offer. During the occupation of the Soviet Union, in World At War, he and his friend were surrounded and left for dead. Using his cunning, he and Dimitri would advance, meet up with surviving troops, and take back the city. From there, he helped lead his troops from the Siege of Stalingrad to the Fall of Berlin. Hoping to return to Russia as a hero, he is instead imprisoned inside the infamous Vorkuta gulag after being betrayed by Dragovich and Kravchenko. It’s there he meets up with Alex Mason, where they hatch a plan to stage an uprising and escape. While he didn’t survive the escape, he would forever live on in Mason’s memory… and delusions (play the game).
Conclusion
That’s my list for the Top 10 Call Of Duty characters, while its usually considered junk food in the game industry, it does have its memorable and beloved characters we attach, cherish, and make memories with. Otherwise, we would just be a pair of floating arms, what’s the fun in that?
