Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender are getting a new way to step into the Four Nations, as Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is now officially available for pre-order.
Developer Gameplay Group International confirmed that the 2D fighting game will launch on July 2, alongside a new trailer showcasing its hand-drawn visuals and fast-paced combat. Priced at $29.99 for the base edition, the game is positioning itself as a more accessible entry into what’s shaping up to be a busy summer for fighting game fans.
At launch, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will feature a roster of 12 characters, pulling from both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The lineup includes a mix of heroes and villains, giving players a wide range of fighting styles tied to the series’ elemental bending system.
One of the game’s standout features is its animation work. According to the developer, each character is built with over 900 hand-drawn frames, aiming to closely match the look and feel of the original animated series. The result is a presentation that feels lifted straight from the show.
On the competitive side, the game will support both casual and ranked matches, backed by rollback netcode to ensure smoother online play. Crossplay will also be available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, making it easier for players to find matches regardless of platform. For those less focused on competition, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will include a single-player story mode, along with a gallery mode featuring previously unseen artwork from the franchise.
Pre-orders are now live, with two editions available. The standard version is priced at $29.99, while a $59.99 Deluxe Edition includes a digital art book, soundtrack, unique HUD designs, and a Year 1 Pass. The pass will add five additional characters post-launch.
Players who pre-order the game will also receive bonus content, including a Samurai skin for Appa, exclusive character color variants, and the ability to vote on which characters will be added through the Year 1 Pass. With multiple fighting games launching this summer, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is shaping up to be a notable addition—especially for fans of the long-running animated franchise.
