“Resynced” is the new subtitle of the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake we talked about a few months ago here at PRG. No, it’s not official, but yet another leak that Ubisoft won’t confirm or deny but, given the French publisher’s history with the security of its own information, we’ll go out on a limb here and say that this is a safe bet as of now.

The aforementioned leak comes from an age rating governing body — the Pan European Game Information (or simply “PEGI”), in this case. The organization listed the game on its pages, but as of now, only the title is mentioned above “Ubisoft EMEA” as its IP holder.

Is an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake even worth it?

Despite Ubisoft doing its best to hide the fact that something is going on with the fourth mainline entry of its eponymous “secret assassin society” franchise, reports of an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake have been flying around for a while now.

The latest bit of info we got states that this will be no ordinary project, though, with major visual and sound overhaul that allegedly puts the old game on par with recent releases like Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Even more so, Ubisoft is apparently adding tons of new content that aims to flesh out protagonist Edward Kenway’s story — which, is confirmed, might be a major boon to fans, as this is one of the most popular games in the brand, but the lack of clarification on Kenway’s overarching plotline is one of the community’s main complaints.

Not that good ol’ Eddie has no story, mind you. As Assassin’s Creed main characters go, he is one of the most canonically developed. The problem is that most of that canon was available as out-of-the-game pieces, and not every fan had the ability or the foresight to go looking for it outside their PCs and consoles.

What the game may not have, however, is modern day sections: as most AC fans know, the overarching plot of the franchise is “modern day people invent machine to live the memories of old day people to find artifacts to control everything” versus those who want to stop it.

Ok, ok: it’s Templars using tech to look into the past for ancient artifacts of power in order to attain control over the modern world, while contemporary assassins also race through the past in order to nab those artifacts to stop Templars from using them.

And this cross-temporal mechanic did drive most games in the franchise — the original Black Flag included — and it seems to have been removed in the remake. Why? Well, that’s anyone’s guess for now…

Considering all of this, and the fact that the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake is looking closer and closer, yeah, we’d say this is probably one hell of a game to have, if it comes out.

Bear in mind that, while there have been tons of reports on this, so it Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is actually a thing, Ubisoft might be sticking to its customary silence and haven’t said a word about the project. But, and this is us speculating, the Game Awards ceremony is mere days away, and the event is well known for its world premier announcements (there’s a whole Tomb Raider thing going on as well…).

It is safe to say that Ubisoft might be waiting for a good opportunity to come out with this officially. Guess we’ll have to wait a few more days to find out.

Meanwhile, if you never had the chance to play the original game, its PS4 version can be found on storefronts like Amazon on the cheap — and we definitely recommend it.
