So, a recent mystery regarding the Game Awards ceremony may not be a mystery no longer, as a new trademark mentioning the Divinity series of videogames has been spotted by MP1st. But before that, you’ll need a bit of context on what one thing has to do with the other.
A few days ago, a strange statue was installed in New Mexico. Being related to a surprise announcement to be made at The Game Awards ceremony, which will air on December 11th, the show’s host, Geoff Keighley, has been posting tidbits and teasing details about it, but since this is Keighley we’re talking about, nothing certain or definitive was stated, which led fans to pull tufts of hair trying to figure out what the statue meant.
Well, it may be a reveal tease for the next Divinity game, as MP1st spotted a new trademark named after the Larian Studios-made RPG franchise. Fans will remember: the last entry in the series — Original Sin II — came around in 2017. Since then, no new title was published as the company was too busy developing Baldur’s Gate 3.
Given that that game went on to win 2023’s Game of the Year category on the show, it stands to reason that bringing Divinity back was not on Larian’s most urgent plans at the time.
What’s the connection between Divinity and The Game Awards
Well, for starters, look at it:

Yup, see how one of the icons on the new trademark is an almost perfect match to the New Mexico statue? According to MP1st, the logo bears some resemblance to the previous games’ looks, but with a new, more modern font — which tends to be indication of a new entry in a game series.
As we said, Divinity: Original Sin II came out in 2017, marking the last game of the franchise to come out as the mainline entry is concerned. Since then, nothing new came from Larian Studios as the company moved their efforts elsewhere (to be fair, they never “ignored” nor “forget” about the franchise, they just shifted priorities). There was a spin-off in 2013 and a cancelled game announced in 2019, though, and the last game got a few enhanced editions, though.
Oh, and there’s the board game that can still be easily purchased anywhere…
The Divinity series bears much of what we saw in Baldur’s Gate 3 when it comes to gameplay — except notoriously tougher and more strategic. The little things in the game matter a lot (i.e. party composition, physical versus magical balance etcetera) and the lore is usually more deep. But since Baldur’s Gate 3 is the most recent release from Larian, when it comes to visuals and audio, that’s the one with the best looks, so to speak.

When you think about that, a new entry in the franchise might be just what we need as a surprise from The Game Awards. And we already got enough interesting rumors as it is…something about a pirate assassin and a certain raider of tombs, so far.
Still, it is important to note: this is all conjecture at this point. Larian Studios and the team behind TGA pulled the “Mum’s the world” treatment and refused to engage in any conversation about this — even if it meant denying the whole thing, which makes this even more suspicious.
The Game Awards 2025 ceremony will air live on December 11, across all digital platforms and Amazon Prime Video.
