In an unexpected announcement, EA has officially confirmed the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale mode name and launch date. The much-awaited Battle Royale mode is officially named Battlefield 6 REDSEC. The name is an abbreviated form of Redacted Sector. The studio has scheduled a YouTube launch video for October 28 that will reveal all the details. This means the new mode will be available alongside the Battlefield 6 Season 1 update.
Battlefield 6 Battle Royale REDSEC to be Free-to-Play
EA has shared that it will reveal Battlefield 6 Battle Royale mode details on October 28 at 8:00 PT/15:00 UTC. These details will be made public through a YouTube video. You can set a reminder for when the video goes live if you want to follow the reveal in real-time. However, it has been confirmed that Battlefield 6 REDSEC will be a free-to-play mode.
The approach seems to be similar to EA’s rival Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone Battle Royale. As of now, it is unknown if the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale REDSEC will be available as a standalone title or if it will be integrated with the paid game, i.e., Battlefield 6. The only other official information we have about the mode is the teaser poster that shows four soldiers walking out.
EA has also revealed Battlefield REDSEC Twitch Drops to celebrate the Battle Royale mode release. It will be an opportunity for players to earn exclusive rewards for tuning into Twitch streams of the mode. All they need to do is to link their EA and Twitch accounts, and then watch the stream for a preset number of hours.
- Watch for 1 Hour and earn the “Hitchhiking” Vehicle Decal
- Watch for 2 Hours and earn the “Marauder” Vehicle Skin
- Watch for 3 Hours and earn the “Highland Hunter” Weapons Package
- Watch for 4 Hours and earn the “No Mercy” Soldier Skin

Battlefield 6 Battle Royale REDSEC Rumors
ModernWarzone, a well-known tipster, has shared that Battlefield 6 Battle Royale will launch with two team sizes: Duos and Squads. These two will allow players to have squads of two and four players, respectively. Since a battle royale match typically begins with 100 players, it will result in up to 50 or 25 squads jumping from the plane. If the rumor turns out to be true, players who were looking forward to playing solo or with a three-player squad will have no choice but to wait.
As mentioned in the beginning, Battlefield 6 Season 1 will also begin on October 28. It will be split across three phases, and the first phase is called Rogue Ops. It will bring the new Blackwell Fields map and Strikepoint mode. Other new additions include the Traverser Mark 2 vehicle, SOR-300SC carbine rifle, GGH-22 sidearm, Mini Scout sniper rifle, Rail Cover, and LPVO attachments. The other two phases of Season 1 are called California Resistance and Winter Offensive. These will arrive on November 18 and December 9.
