After nearly eight years, Conan Exiles is stepping into a new chapter with a major visual and technical upgrade that’s now live for players. Developer Funcom, working with Inflexion Games, has rolled out Conan Exiles Enhanced as a free update on Steam. The timing lines up with the game’s anniversary on May 8, and it feels like a proper send-off to its older version.
The biggest change is the move to Unreal Engine 5. In simple terms, the game looks and runs better across the board. Environments are sharper, characters have more detail, and lighting feels more natural. There’s also a redesigned interface and a handful of quality-of-life tweaks that make things less clunky, especially for returning players.
Performance has seen a boost, too. Funcom says most PCs should now handle the game at over 60 fps, even across different graphics settings. If you play on the Steam Deck, you should also notice smoother performance on the go.
Another big update changes how the world works. Players can now travel between The Exiled Lands and The Isle of Siptah without starting over. Previously, you had to pick one map at the beginning. Now both are connected, which opens things up in a big way, especially on multiplayer servers where communities can share the expanded world.
Since launching in 2018, Conan Exiles has carved out a solid place among survival games, thanks in part to its harsh setting inspired by Robert E. Howard. This new Enhanced edition doesn’t reinvent the game, but it gives it a noticeable upgrade that should keep both new and longtime players interested.
