Dead As Disco has been on a tear lately, as its Early Access release has left a strong impression on players, alongside reaching a peak of nearly 10,000 players and earning a 94% approval rating, according to SteamDB. Now, developer Brain Jar Games finally seems ready to take things to the next level after releasing its roadmap for upcoming updates.
The studio says the game will follow a thematic approach, with major content drops arriving in the form of seasonal “music festivals.” Each season will consist of multiple update patches that introduce new content while refining existing mechanics based on community feedback.
The developers anticipate roughly a full year of Early Access before the game’s full launch, which is expected sometime in 2027. Here is what they have planned leading up to that release.
The Summer Flames Festival Schedule

The first seasonal cycle, titled the Summer Flames Festival, is divided into three primary milestones designed to expand both gameplay and narrative content.
- Update 1 (June): This update focuses on expanding player choice within the My Music and Infinite Disco modes. Key additions include Custom Challenge Playlists for user-imported tracks, the return of revamped Arena Swaps, and Selectable Dances that allow players to customize their combat flow. New arenas, challenges, and gameplay modifiers will also be introduced.
- Update 2 (Midsummer): Styled as a high-energy expansion, this update will prioritize the rockstar wardrobe by offering new skins and accessories. It will also introduce a wave of fresh memorabilia and collectibles for the Encore hub, alongside a mid-season balance pass for skills and abilities.
- Update 3 (Boss Idol Finale): Closing out the summer is a major patch featuring the first new Boss Idol added since launch. This update will include a full music video-inspired story level, new original music, additional skills, a signature ability, and new enemy types.
Major Features and Console Plans

One of the biggest additions on the horizon is co-op. The multiplayer component remains one of the game’s most anticipated features, although the development team has made it clear they do not intend to rush the process. According to the studio, the goal is to properly translate the rhythm-based flow of combat into a multiplayer setting without compromising quality.
In other words, the team plans to take its time in order to avoid major technical issues. As for content, the game is expected to eventually feature seven Boss Idols in total, up from the four available during the Early Access launch.
On the technical side, tools like Photo Mode are expected to arrive earlier in development, while a full Replay System will require more time due to its shared infrastructure with multiplayer features. Brain Jar Games is also exploring automatic BPM detection to make the My Music feature more seamless for players.
Finally, the studio confirmed that Dead As Disco is planned for consoles and mobile platforms, including a direct confirmation for PlayStation 5. No additional platforms have been officially announced yet, though the studio consistently refers to “consoles” in the plural. These ports remain official goals, but they are expected to arrive after the PC and Steam Early Access phase is complete.
Path to the Final Encore
Following the Summer Flames Festival, development will continue through Autumn and Winter festival updates, which will gradually reveal more members of the band’s roster.
Throughout this period, the team also plans to implement seasonal leaderboard resets, periodically refreshing competitive rankings while highlighting top-performing players. Full voice acting for the Encore hub will also be added progressively over time, leading up to the final endgame battle against Harmony Corp, which will conclude the story at version 1.0.
