Far Far West only just launched into Early Access on April 28, 2026, but it’s already being talked about as the latest “friendslop” hit on Steam. Developed by Evil Raptor, the game joins a growing list of chaotic co-op experiences like PEAK and YapYap, where unpredictable systems and shared moments drive the fun.

Set in a stylized frontier world, Far Far West blends survival mechanics with roguelike elements, creating runs that can quickly spiral into chaos depending on your build and decisions. That unpredictability has helped it gain traction early, but it has also come with technical issues, especially around crashes and corrupted save files.

To address those concerns, the developers have released Hotfix 3 (Version 601), focusing primarily on improving stability. The update was announced via the Steam Community, with the team noting that most of their time went into fixing critical save-related problems.

The biggest improvements come from changes to the saving system. The game will now avoid saving if progress becomes corrupted, helping prevent players from locking in broken runs. It also no longer attempts to save during key operations that could previously cause crashes and lead to corrupted files.

There are also important backend changes. Auto-backups are no longer stored on Steam Cloud, which means they won’t be lost due to issues like Family Sharing. Similarly, user settings have been moved off Steam Cloud, allowing players to maintain separate configurations across devices such as Steam Deck and PC.

Outside of stability fixes, the patch includes a few smaller updates. The “Weaklink” Joker has been buffed to allow more stacks, while “Run and Gun” has been adjusted to appear more frequently. A minor quality-of-life improvement has also been added, with the Gamba Machine now displaying its odds.

However, the update doesn’t resolve everything. The developers acknowledged ongoing issues, including fatal errors after long play sessions, crashes on launch, and potential memory leaks. Some UI problems, particularly on devices like the ROG Ally, are also still being worked on.

Evil Raptor says a larger update is coming soon, which will bring more bug fixes, balance changes, and system improvements. For now, this hotfix is aimed at stabilizing the experience and making sure players don’t lose progress as they continue exploring the chaotic world of Far Far West.
