Hosted earlier today, Gamescom Opening Night Live was full of announcements, trailers, images, reveals and some great surprises — as we expected it to be.
Among things that were to be expected (like a much too obvious Call of Duty after Battlefield’s big beta campaign from a couple weeks ago), there were a lot to be surprised about, too: a new Black Myth game, new, juicy information on Resident Evil Requiem, a Sekiro anime and, at freaking last, Hollow Knight Silksong has a date and new gameplay video.
In short: it’s a lot. And it was still the event’s first day, so read on to check out every single one of Gamescom Opening Night Live’s big reveals:

Every single one of Gamescom Opening Night Live Announcements
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
The event opened with the reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, presenting a new trailer that focused on its multiplayer modes and Zombies campaign. The trailer showcased refined gameplay mechanics, enhanced cooperative play in the campaign, and visually polished action.
The Black Ops 7 Beta — divided into the Early Access and Open Beta periods — runs from October 2 to October 8.
The Early Access Beta launches at 10AM PT on Thursday, October 2 for those who preorder the game, and runs for a period of 72 hours.
The Open Beta launches at 10AM PT on Sunday, October 5 for all players on all platforms, and runs consecutively after the Early Access period, for another 72 hours. The Black Ops 7Beta is scheduled to conclude at 10AM PT on Wednesday, October 8.
Resident Evil Requiem
Capcom unveiled Resident Evil Requiem with a cinematic trailer that maintained the series’ signature horror atmosphere. The announcement hinted at fresh gameplay elements and narrative developments but kept specific details sparse.
Resident Evil Requiem is set to be released on February 27, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Capcom revealed Onimusha: Way of the Sword with a new trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live. Set in a dark fantasy version of feudal Kyoto, the game centers on the legendary swordsman Musashi Miyamoto facing demonic creatures known as Genma.
The gameplay showcases refined sword combat mechanics including parrying, precise blocking, and powerful counterattacks leveraging iconic series features such as Issen and Absorption of Souls.
Players will also wield weapons like a bow and a dual-blade with whirlwind attacks, expanding combat variety. Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
As we’ve anticipated earlier today, Hollow Knight: Silksong was highlighted via new gameplay footage and confirmed to be releasing within 2025.
Attendees at Gamescom had hands-on access, providing an early opportunity to experience the game’s refined combat system and expanded exploration. The sequel builds on the strengths of its predecessor with new abilities and environments.
Hollow Knight: Silksong will (HOPEFULLY, FINALLY) come out this year on Windows, macOS, Linux, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, as per the game’s website.
Ghost of Yōtei
Sony showcased Ghost of Yōtei in a gameplay preview emphasizing narrative depth and atmospheric world-building. The game demonstrated the PS5’s graphical capabilities, with detailed lighting and immersive environments. No release date was provided, but it was positioned as a noteworthy exclusive.
Ghost of Yōtei is a PlayStation 5 exclusive, set to be released on October 2nd, 2025.
The Outer Worlds 2
Obsidian’s sequel to The Outer Worlds was revealed with a trailer that showcased expanded RPG elements emphasizing player choice and storytelling depth. The game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch by October 29, 2025.
Ninja Gaiden 4
After several years off, Ninja Gaiden 4 made a notable return with gameplay footage highlighting fast-paced and intense combat. It is confirmed for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S and will be available on Xbox Game Pass by October 21, 2025.
Silent Hill f
Konami’s latest Silent Hill installment, Silent Hill f, focuses on psychological horror with a strong atmospheric and unsettling tone. It is set for release on September 25, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC (Steam and Epic Games Store).
World of Warcraft: Midnight
Blizzard teased new story and dungeon content for World of Warcraft: Midnight, an upcoming expansion for the MMORPG on Windows PC. It is expected before June 30, 2026, though specific release details remain scarce.
Black Myth: Zhong Kui
A surprise reveal at the event, Black Myth: Zhong Kui introduces a new game inspired by Chinese mythology with a focus on dark fantasy and intense, skill-based combat. The trailer unveiled detailed action sequences highlighting the protagonist Zhong Kui’s supernatural powers and fluid fighting style.
The game impressed viewers with its high-end graphics and ambitious scope. The game is set to be released on all major platforms and PC, though its release date is still unconfirmed as the game is still in early stages of development.
Lords of the Fallen 2
Confirmation of Lords of the Fallen 2’s development came via a developer announcement, though gameplay and release platforms remain unknown. The sequel is widely expected to be multi-platform for a launch set for sometime in 2026.
Bubsy 4D
Atari revived the 90s platform mascot Bubsy in the newly announced Bathtub 4D, an intergalactic adventure blending retro and modern platforming elements. The game will come out on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, though a proper date has not been specified.
Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes
A new title set in the Battlestar Galactica universe was announced, promising narrative-driven space combat that channels the spirit of the TV series. The game should be available on PC in early 2026.
Fallout TV Season 2
The second season of the Fallout TV adaptation was teased with a trailer, expanding the franchise’s presence on Amazon Prime Video on December 17.
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was announced as a new Lego game centered on Batman-themed characters and stories. The title is expected for release in 2026 and is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Denshattack!
A rhythm-based action game, Denshattack!, was previewed and is set to launch in early 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass.
Absolum
Described as “beat’em up meets roguelite, this indie game was briefly shown with intriguing gameplay hints. According to the trailer above, it will come out on October 9, 2025, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
Sekiro: No Defeat
During the event, Crunchyroll, alongside Kadokawa, Qzil.la, and ARCH, officially announced “Sekiro: No Defeat,” an anime adaptation of the acclaimed game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Scheduled for an exclusive global release on Crunchyroll in 2026, the adaptation is entirely hand-drawn and faithfully reimagines the story of loyalty and blood set in a fantastical version of Japan’s Sengoku era.
The production team includes notable anime professionals such as director Kenichi Kutsuna and scriptwriter Takuya Satou.director Asa Suehira remarked on the show’s faithful translation of the game’s precision and intensity. The anime aims to appeal both to dedicated fans of the game and to newcomers discovering Sekiro’s world for the first time.
Valor Mortis
Described as an “FPS soulslike”, Valor Mortis is brings a soulslike take on the first-person action genre. Set in a alternate version of Eastern Europe, the game puts you right on a fictionalized version of Napoleon Bonaparte’s invasion. As the French soldier William, you realize that, after dying in battle, you mysteriously came back with the ability to control a corrupting substance called the Nephtoglobin. The game has a gothic feel to it, which should add some degree of dense atmosphere to its fast-paced combat. Details revealed at Gamescom showcase upcoming 2026 release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Cinder City
A neon-noir roguelike shooter set in a futuristic city filled with crime and mystery. It offers fast-paced gunplay and procedural generation with RPG elements. Scheduled for release in 2026 on PC.
Indiana Jones DLC: The Order of Giants
Announced for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, this DLC introduces a new campaign set in ancient Rome fighting against a dangerous cult. It will launch on September 4, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and in 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2—the latter, by the way, is a first, as the full game will also come to Nintendo’s new device.
Zero Parades
From the makers of Disco Elysium, Zero Parades is a character-driven 3D action RPG with dynamic combat and a colorful fantasy setting. So far, no info has been given on a release date, though the game is already available for wishlists on Steam.
Toxic Commando
John Carpenter’s at it again: Toxic Commando was shown at Gamescom, blending retro aesthetics with modern gameplay twists. Announced for PC and consoles in 2026.
World of Tanks: Heat
The next evolution of the World of Tanks franchise emphasizing large-scale PvP warfare and realistic vehicle combat. Revealed for PC and console platforms with crossplay progression and Steam Deck compatibility at launch—whenever that’ll be.
Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy XIV Collaboration
Announced a crossover event between the two franchises featuring exclusive quests, gear, and monsters arriving in late September, 2025 on both games. While Monster Hunter Wilds gets rideable chocobos and cactuars, Final Fantasy XIV will see Seikrets and Palicos coming to its world.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4
The long-awaited new installment in the Warhammer 40k marks the series’ return to its RTS roots, featuring four playable factions and a deep campaign. Set for 2026 a release on PC, but speculations also point to a possible console launch.
