How many of Ghost of Yotei’s easter eggs have you found?

Just over a week since its release, people are just now finding most of Ghost of Yotei’s easter eggs and hidden references. As Sucker Punch titles go, this is a given: its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, had a bunch of them, and this one’s no different.

Granted, since we’re talking about a bigger game, finding every single one of Ghost of Yotei’s easter eggs might be a tall order for some — believe it or not, gamers have jobs and a personal life nowadays — so we’re here to help. Read on below to find whatever you missed.

Oh, and as usual in articles like this, beware of spoilers of the game, as there will be plenty of those too…

All (yes, all!) Ghost of Yotei easter eggs and references

Rocket: Robot on Wheels mural

To locate this mural, which is a reference to Sucker Punch’s first game released in 1999, navigate to the Enduring Hold Shrine in the central northern Teshio Ridge area. Follow the shrine path until you complete a section where you grapple and run across tightropes, followed by sliding down a gravel slope. While the path ahead curves to the right, keep your attention on the right side of the path for a small outcropping. The mural, which depicts a man in red and purple riding on a wheel, is painted on the left-hand side of that wall.

Infamous 2 Beast battle mural

This elaborate painting depicts the canonical final battle of Infamous 2 where the protagonist, Cole MacGrath (Good Cole), faces off against the massive mutated entity known as The Beast over the Ray Sphere. To find it, travel to the Amber Respite Shrine in the Yubari Lake area of the Tokachi Range. Once you reach the top of the shrine, turn left and descend the two gravel slopes until you reach a lake. Turn left again and enter the orange wooded pass. Upon reaching the cliff edge, turn right to spot the mural.

Sir Raleigh the Frog mural

This mural references Sir Raleigh the Frog, the initial antagonist and a member of the Fiendish Five from Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus. The painting shows a frog wearing a tall black hat and holding a cup of water. It is found at the Faithful Leap Shrine in Hidaka Grove, located in the Tokachi Range. Midway through the climb, when you reach a wide area with deer, ignore the ramp leading forward. Instead, head down the left-hand side and use rocky platforms to cross over to a rock wall. Climb the handholds up to a spot where you can squeeze through, and then spin the camera around at the end of this passage to reveal the painting.

Sly Thief mask

The Sly Thief Mask is a cosmetic item whose name and coloring clearly reference the Sly Cooper games. Players earn this mask by successfully completing the “Shiro the Swindler” Bounty hunt side quest. This particular Bounty is located in Ishikari Plain but will only become available after the player has already finished three other Bounties within that region.

Infamous reference

This entry is a nod to Cole MacGrath, the protagonist of the inFamous series. The location features a pillar shown being struck by lightning, which is the element that Cole controlled. It is found at the Pillar of the Fallen, located in the southwestern corner of the map, near Ohara Beach in Ishikari Plain. This is where you can find the First Strike sword kit, also in reference to Cole MacGrath.

Infamous: Second Son mural

This mural references Delsin Rowe, the protagonist of inFAMOUS: Second Son. The painting depicts a man dressed in black and red, surrounded by smoke, and holding a flaming chain. It is found inside Master Enomoto’s Home, which is located in the Sarufutsu River area of northern Teshio Ridge. This is the destination where “The Way of the Kusarigama” Sensei quest concludes. To view the mural, fast travel to the Home, go inside, climb the ladder to the upper floor, and the mural will be on the wooden wall directly ahead.

Sly Hunter robes dye

This dye is an option for the Mercenary Attire, allowing the player to dress in the iconic blue and yellow colors associated with Sly Cooper. After obtaining the Mercenary Attire by following the main quest in Ishikari Plain, you must check in periodically with Taro the Scavenger. Taro will eventually sell the dye color. You can find Taro after clearing out Saito enemy camps or by traveling to Dead Man’s Tree in the Tokachi Range.

Tanuki’s mischief Sword Kit

This sword kit is designed to look like the legendary thief Sly Cooper, complete with a fuzzy raccoon tail attached to the sheath. To acquire the kit, you must head to the Blue Dye House, which is situated in the southwestern area of the Oshima Coast region, and purchase it from the seller there.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach golden mask

This cosmetic item is considered one of the most difficult Easter eggs to find in the game. The Golden Mask bears a striking resemblance to the mask worn by Higgs, the main villain in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. This mask is unlocked in Ghost of Yōtei after successfully completing all 13 Shrine Climbs scattered across the map. This inclusion is a reference to the fact that Death Stranding 2 features its own reference to Atsu’s iconic mask.

Sly and Carmelita mural

This mural is devoted to the eternal chase between Sly Cooper and Carmelita Fox. It depicts Sly Cooper curled up next to a fox with long hair, which is shown with a red-and-yellow knife in its mouth, representing Carmelita. The mural is located in Sanctuary Grove in the northeast part of Teshio Ridge. To find it, visit the lighthouse just north of the grove, solve the internal puzzle, and travel south through the Hunting Camp Hideout. When you reach a river with wooden platforms, drop down into the river below instead of crossing. Follow the river downstream to the left, keeping to the left side of the cliff, where the mural is hidden.

Fetch mural

This final mural commemorates Fetch, the main character of the inFAMOUS First Light spin-off game. To locate it, head to the Budding Grace Shrine in the southeast region of Oshima Coast. Instead of starting the climb up the shrine steps, take the path located to the left of the stairs at the beginning. The mural will be painted there on the cliff wall, surrounded by pink flowers.

Jin Sakai’s final resting place

This Easter egg resolves some lingering questions about Jin Sakai, the protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima. Players must find the Forgotten Shrine in the Oshima Coast area. Inside the shrine, players discover several of Jin’s belongings, including his sword, helmet, mask, flute, and his horse’s saddle. The shrine also suggests that Jin and Yuna moved to Ezo together and potentially had a child, evidenced by a drawing with baby handprints.

Sucker Punch epitaph

This is a memorial stone listing the names of team members who worked on Ghost of Yōtei, written in Japanese script, with the initials “SP” (standing for Sucker Punch) inscribed in the center. This epitaph is found after completing the Forgotten Shrine quest related to Jin. From the final tree area of that quest, turn left and grapple down to the beach. Once on the beach, follow the wall to the right to locate the memorial stone.

Yoshitada’s Fourth Pearl sword kit

This sword kit is a reference to the grim Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic, The Last Ronin, where several of the turtle brothers perish. The kit is rewarded upon completing “The Last Brother” bounty quest in the Oshima Coast area. The quest concludes at three graves marked by blue (Leonardo), red (Raphael), and purple (Donatello) flowers. Upon finishing the quest, a new grave appears with orange flowers, symbolizing Michelangelo, and the player obtains the kit, which is decorated to look slightly scaly, like a turtle.

Sly Bandit dye

This is a dye for the Mercenary Attire that completes Atsu’s thief-like appearance. This item is found in an ordinary chest located near the gates at the final conflict scene of the “Wayward Oni Raiders” bounty hunt in Oshima Coast.

Musashi Miyamoto nod

This entry pays tribute to the famous historical figure, Musashi Miyamoto. Miyamoto was known for being undefeated in duels and using a specialized two-sword fighting style. The reference is made through the “Takezo the Unrivaled Questline,” as the character Takezo employs a two-sword fighting style similar to Miyamoto’s.

Ghost of Yotei is available exclusively on PlayStation 5, and the console even got a brand new, customized version to celebrate the title for sale.
