This has not been a good week for Rockstar Games: amid some major union-busting allegations, it seems the company behind Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) has taken another hit, with the already-once-delayed major title seemingly getting a pushback once again.
The information comes from a very reliable source: Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported on the case first hand, quoting a statement on Take-Two Interactive’s quarterly results, where the company states that it’s giving the team “some additional time to finish the game with the high level of polish players expect and deserve.”
Take-Two Interactive is Rockstar Games’ parent company. Besides GTA, it also owns other notable franchises, such as Civilization, Bioshock (which is also in the middle of a very contentious development) and pretty much all of 2K’s sports based games. The company has not commented on the matter so far.
According to Bloomberg, GTA 6 delay now pushes the game’s release all the way to November 2026 (from May of the same year). It is worth remembering that the May release window was already the end result of a previous delay: originally, GTA 6 was meant to come out in Fall 2025.

What does a GTA 6 delay means for Rockstar
Grand Theft Auto VI is, arguably, the biggest game of the current generation, and the hype around it is so big it has even led to major speculation on gaming prices as a whole: developers and other videogame professionals have defended the possibility of the title coming out with a $100 price tag (which, by the way, is also unconfirmed).
Now, news of a GTA 6 delay catches an already on-the-ropes Rockstar Games even more off guard: earlier this week, several employees got laid off by the company, with the media quickly picking up on the story, given the fact that most of the fired professionals were either unionized or in the process of getting unionized. “Union-busting” is a term applied to a range of legal and illegal activities undertaken by employers to disrupt, prevent, or destroy the efforts of workers to form a labor union or to weaken an existing one.
The company denies any wrongdoing and claimed just yesterday that the lay offs hit employees that were purposefully leaking confidential information, although no further comment was offered from their side.
At any rate, the GTA 6 delay might be a blessing in disguise: 2026 is already lousy with big game releases, with the likes of 007: First Light and Nioh 3 coming out either months before or after Rockstar’s major launch title. Now, as the game is moved back to November, gamers will have more time to prepare in case the jacked up price tag does confirm itself down the line.
