Rockstar better take a look at Reddit if it wants Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) to succeed: according to this post on the online forum, fans of the franchise want the first-person camera in the game to me more realistic, even somewhat wobbly. The example used in the (as of this writing) 1,700-liked-and-180-commented post is the system we saw in 2016’s Watch Dogs 2 — a.k.a. “the game about Anonymous according to your granddad’s definition.”
It is best we note at the start of this news piece that, at the moment, GTA 6 does not have a first-person camera confirmed on release. However, Rockstar Games is notoriously famous for pushing new features after a game’s release, and the FPS world view was one of those in GTA V, the previous game. Earlier iterations on the franchise had a modicum of the same feature (i.e. looking through the scope of a sniper rifle or firing up your character’s smartphone), but not on the day to day navigation.
So, yeah, GTA 6 having a first-person view is a pretty safe assumption to make about the game of which we know next to nothing despite two trailers and some leaks.
Except…GTA V’s first-person camera was not the best-looking and, while no game has attained the popularity of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, some features here and there are undeniably better elsewhere.
Which circles us back to Watch Dogs 2, the game used as an example: Ubisoft’s game did a neat work to reproduce what the world around you would look like if you, say, walk normally, take off sprinting or try to withstand the recoil of a gun. There’s variations upon variations, layers of intensity on how things look and they all come together to bring a deeper sense of immersion.

It might sound/read like little stuff to be concerned about, but given the sheer scope of development that is GTA 6 (I mean, a billion bucks in budget and the game still got delayed?), you can’t fault the community to pride themselves with the utmost capacity in realism. And given the possibility that the game will eventually come out on PC and have its own, revised, enhanced/upgraded versions, having the minor stuff clamped down from the first release will open the way to cooler, deeper, more meaningful features to be worked on and added later.
Anyway, we’re still about a year away from finding out: GTA 6 is coming out on November 19th, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
