Halo Campaign Evolved marks the first entry of the (ex-) Xbox exclusive franchise on the ocean of PlayStation waters — something we’ve talked about at a certain length here — but what does this mean for other, previously launched projects, like Halo Infinite?
Well, probably the end of the game, eventually, if the development team’s latest update is any clue.
According to Halo Waypoint, the development team behind Halo Infinite will now shift its focus towards Halo Campaign Evolved. In terms of practicality, this means that Infinite will no longer receive any updates, which is still exclusive to Xbox and PC platforms.
From the blog update:
“As the Halo Studios team shifts focus to in-development projects such as Halo: Campaign Evolved, we’d like to thank our Halo Infinite players for years of steadfast support.”

The news comes as an unfulfilled promise from Microsoft, which ascertained, in the past, that Halo Infinite would have somewhere around 10 years worth of updates. With the latest piece of info, however, that number is now reduced — definitely, mind you — to four.
It is worth noting that Halo Campaign Evolved will have no multiplayer component to speak for, and while rumors of a standalone, free to play PvP client being in the works are still floating around, nothing is really certain about the franchise’s online part for now.
The “Halo on PlayStation” game will come out sometime in 2026.
