The mystery is officially over. Heartopia dropped the news everyone had been waiting for: the mystery collab is Butterbear, and it kicks off on June 6. If you’ve been glued to the Heartopia socials trying to guess what was coming, congratulations, you probably nailed it.
What Is Butterbear, Anyway?
If you’re not from Southeast Asia, you might be doing a double take at the name. Butterbear, known in Thailand as “Nong Ner” (or “น้องเนย”), is the mascot of a wildly popular Thai dessert cafe brand. Think a soft, round little bear with a serious sweet tooth. The character has exploded in popularity way beyond Thailand, and it is a perfect fit for a cozy life sim like Heartopia.
This collab actually happened before on the Chinese server back in September 2025. So global players are finally getting their turn, and based on what Chinese players experienced, there is a lot to look forward to.
What to Expect from the Event
The previous collab included a mini-game in the form of a dice game, where you earned event coins. Those coins could then be spent in the event shop on items like stoves for cooking special event food. On top of that, there was a gacha mechanic with a vehicle prize shaped like a bear pushing a shopping cart. It is honestly as cute as it sounds.
Now, will the global version be identical? Probably not. The next collaboration event may differ from last year’s version, but the items are expected to be just as adorable. Given how Heartopia usually handles these things, expect themed furniture, limited outfits, and collectibles with that signature Butterbear sweetness baked right in.
Why This One Feels Different
Heartopia has been on a serious collab streak lately. After the My Little Pony event and the Maltese event, the community has been getting louder and louder about wanting Butterbear on the global server. The fact that this was teased as a “mystery collab” before being unveiled only cranked up the excitement. The Heartopia Steam page lit up with players reacting to the reveal, and social media has been buzzing since the announcement dropped.
