Microsoft has officially announced another Xbox price hike in the United States. This is the second price rise for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles in the past four months. The previous hike affected global markets, but the latest announcement is only for the U.S. buyers. The company has cited “changes in the macroeconomic environment” as the reason behind the price hike.
Xbox Price Hike Coming in October 2025: Check New Prices
The newly announced Xbox console prices will come into effect starting October 3, 2025. The price changes will affect all Xbox console variants as listed below.
- Xbox Series S (512GB): $399.99 from $379.99
- Xbox Series S (1TB): $449.99 from $429.99
- Xbox Series X Digital: $599.99 from $549.99
- Xbox Series X: $649.99 from $599.99
- Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black: $799.99 from $729.99
As you can notice, the price bump ranges between $20 and $70 depending on the particular model. It is undoubtedly a steep increase for Xbox fans in the United States. The good news is that Xbox has revealed that prices for controllers and headsets will remain unchanged.
The official announcement said,
Beginning on October 3, we will update the recommended retailer pricing for Series S and Series X consoles in the United States due to changes in the macroeconomic environment. We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration. Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and providing value for Xbox players.
Xbox is not the only company struggling due to the increased tariffs implemented by the U.S. government. Sony had to increase PlayStation 5 prices by $50 across all variants last month due to the same reason. The uncertainty over tariffs made Nintendo delay Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders earlier this year. It is hard to say when we can expect stability in prices, but for the time being, price hikes seem to be the new norm.
In other news, Xbox has revealed the Wave 1 and Wave 2 lineup of games coming to Xbox Game Pass in September 2025. Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the biggest new launches of this month, and you can play with your Xbox Game Pass subscription.
