A gruff, bearded Leon is just the tip of the iceberg on these new Resident Evil Requiem leaks

So, there’s a whole new slew of Resident Evil Requiem leaks in the wild and, you guessed it, they’re bringing a lot of information about Leon Scott Kennedy, of Resident Evils 2, 4 and 6 fame, to make a return.

Not that Leon’s presence on the new iteration of Capcom’s survival horror franchise hasn’t been teased before, but this time, we got details. Well, notorious (and reliable) leaker DuskGolem does have details, while we’re just reporting on them.

As usual, these are rumors—wildly unconfirmed at that—so take them with a grain of salt, ok?

Resident Evil Requiem leaks: Leon is back! Also, time jumps?

Getting right into it, DuskGolem says that we are days away from a major Resident Evil Requiem info dump from Capcom, and these leaks may or may not be confirmed then.

First of all, the overall plot might involve a dual-protagonist scenario, with the very-much-confirmed Grace Ashcroft taking a lot of the story for herself. However, it is still unknown if both her and Leon will actually cross paths—so, at this moment, do not get your hopes up for a “Leon meets Chris” scenario like we saw in Resident Evil 6.

However, callbacks to the PlayStation 3 game don’t stop there: according to these Resident Evil Requiem leaks, the story will progress in a similar fashion to what we saw in 2013—that being more than one protagonists who progress on their own share of the story and may or may not be aware of the others. Think of it like Chris Redfield never meeting Jake Muller in RE6, but the actions of one have consequences on the story of the other and so on.

This might be more evident this time, however, as DuskGolem states that Resident Evil Requiem will have some form of time jump, with Leon Scott Kennedy’s bit taking place in 2020, while Grace Ashcroft’s running from 2028 onwards. Make no mistake, though: Requiem is “Ashcroft-first, Kennedy-second”, meaning she will definitely be the “most lead character” in this game of several lead characters.

This, evidently, leads to speculation: is Leon’s piece of the story used as an introduction to Grace’s? What could’ve happened in 202 that impacts the game in 2028.

As for the looks, DuskGolem didn’t share any actual image, but he did state that Leon will look more gruff, and even have a beard, because that’s an obvious sign of experience other than a receding hairline and a bald patch—which Capcom would probably be not to eager to give him, but we digress.

Gameplay will be different between the protagonists

While Resident Evil 6 had its differences among characters when it came to gameplay mechanics, that game was mostly the same overall. This time, however, there seems to be pretty deep differences in features depending on who you’re controlling.

According to the last Resident Evil Requiem leaks, Leon’s part will be more action-oriented, in a manner that is similar to Resident Evil 4, except without the over-the-top action bits and still bringing nuances of the survival horror genre that gave the franchise its fame.

Grace Ashcroft, on the other hand, might follow the “Silent Hill 2” route, betting on less action (and, presumably, a lesser capacity for defense) and more psychological terror. We did have plenty of those while running away from Mr. X in the Resident Evil 2 remake (ironically, also led by another duo: Leon Scott Kennedy and Claire Redfield).

How this will actually play out…well, that’s still in the wind. While DuskGolem states that these will all be confirmed/denied in a few days, the leaker did not commit to an actual date. However, Tokyo Game Show is just around the corner, and Resident Evil Requiem is a confirmed attraction for the show, sooooo…

Anyway, Resident Evil Requiem is set for release in February 2027, 2026, or PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
