Final Fantasy maker Square Enix has officially announced Life is Strange: Reunion, which is set to be the final installment of the Max and Chloe saga. With the announcement, the Japanese publisher confirms some rumors that have been making waves for some time now.
Developed by Deck Nine — the same studio behind the other Life is Strange titles (those being Before the Storm, True Colors, and Double Exposure) — the game is scheduled for release on March 26 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
According to the game’s synopsis, the story takes place at Caledon University, where Max Caulfield is currently employed as a photography teacher. After returning from a weekend away, Max finds the university engulfed in a “raging inferno” that kills her friends, students, and faculty members.
To prevent this disaster, Max uses her rewind power to jump back in time through a selfie, giving her three days to discover how the fire started. During this time, Chloe Price arrives at Caledon, a development described as a “shocking repercussion” of Max merging timelines at the conclusion of Life is Strange: Double Exposure. This version of Chloe is haunted by nightmares of a past she did not live and finds her grip on reality unravelling.

Gameplay mechanics
For the first time in the series, players will be able to play as both Max and Chloe at different points in the narrative. The game’s puzzles are solved using their unique abilities:
- Max: Uses her supernatural rewind power to reverse time.
- Chloe: Uses her gift of backtalk to navigate narrative challenges.
