Survival horror game Poppy Playtime received its fifth chapter, “Broken Things,” on February 18. While the story is still building toward its larger conclusion, this chapter helps tie up a few lingering threads and push the narrative forward with a tightly delivered script.

The voice acting, in particular, continues to be one of the game’s strongest assets. Critics and horror fans alike have praised the performances for reinforcing the constant tension and unease that define the series. A big part of that atmosphere comes down to the cast behind the characters.

For Chapter 5: Broken Things, the voice cast is split between characters with full dialogue, those with limited or no speech due to experimentation, and those who appear only through recordings or scattered lore entries. There are also a few newcomers join an already recognizable lineup of voice actors.

Main Speaking Characters

  • Poppy: Voiced by Nola Klop. She returns as a central figure, providing cryptic guidance after being found trapped in Lily Lovebraids’ basement.
  • Giblet: Voiced by Elliot Schiff. A new, stitched-up ally who serves as the player’s guiding voice, replacing previous companions like Doey and Ollie.
  • Lily Lovebraids: Voiced by Nicole Tompkins. The chapter’s secondary antagonist, she is a doll-like experiment with a “yandere-like” and spoiled personality.
  • The Prototype: Voiced by Anthony Madeira and a large ensemble. The primary mastermind finally steps into the spotlight with a multi-layered voice composed of various actors, including August Sargenti, Benjamin Rooker, Elijah Delaney, Eric True, and others.
  • Harley Sawyer: Voiced by Baldwin Williams Jr. He appears toward the end of the chapter as a digital backup.
  • Elliot Ludwig: Voiced by Tom Schalk. He appears in lore and recordings, providing character effects and NPC roles.

Silent or Limited-Speech Characters

  • Huggy Wuggy: As was the case in previous chapters, Huggy Wuggy is completely mute. However, his return as a “perpetual menace” and his presence as a primary antagonist for the chapter’s early chase sequences do give reason to think there’s more to him than meets the eye.
  • Kissy Missy: Huggy Wuggy’s female and good-hearted counterpart is described as a “silent and resilient ally” that prioritizes Poppy’s safety. While she does not speak, Amanda Hufford is credited for general “Toy-related roles” that likely include her.
  • Chum Chompkins: Voiced by Elijah Delaney. He is a “silent ally” and handyman for the Prototype; his lack of speech is attributed to the psychological and physical torment of experimentation.
  • Bron: Mute. The full-sized dinosaur mascot appears briefly to deliver lore and provide the player with a replacement GrabPack.
  • Outimals: Mute. These “inside-out plush creatures” scavenge the Labs and generally lack individually credited voices.

Supporting & Recording-Only Voices

  • Ms. Gracie: Voiced by Nicole Tompkins. A maternal figure for the orphans who appears only in live-action recordings.
  • Eddie Ritterman: Voiced by Chris Tester.
  • Leith Pierre: Voiced by Robin Nelson.
  • Smiling Critters (Audiotapes):
    • Kickin Chicken: Voiced by Elijah Delaney.
    • Baba Chops: Voiced by Jenn Soanes.
    • Bobby Bearhug & Hoppy Hopscotch: Voiced by Avalon Delaney.

Departures & Absences

This chapter marks significant exits for several major characters and one notable voice actor:

  • Lily Lovebraids: During the escape from her “Sweet Street” mansion, the player drops a fake cloud on her, which kills her.
  • Huggy Wuggy & Kissy Missy: In a tragic climax at the train station, the Prototype appears and impales both mascots simultaneously.
  • Michael Kovach: Notably, this is the only chapter in the series that does not feature voice acting from Michael Kovach, as he was unavailable due to other projects.

Poppy Playtime is divided into several chapters, with the first chapter being distributed for free on PC, Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. All subsequent chapters were distributed as premium DLC, and the latest chapter — Broken Things — is available exclusively on PC for now.
