Ever since Capcom confirmed Leon S. Kennedy’s return in Resident Evil Requiem, fans were not only eager to see the franchise’s face in action again but were also anticipating a lot of easter eggs. The good news is that the studio has done exactly that, and sprinkled easter eggs and references to various Resident Evil games throughout the latest campaign. Here is a list of the easter eggs that you should not miss in Resident Evil Requiem.

Note: Since we are talking about easter eggs, there will surely be spoilers ahead. If you have not completed or played the game, consider this your customary spoiler warning.

License Plate of Leon’s Car

Easter Eggs in Resident Evil Requiem

Leon S. Kennedy can be seen driving a unique Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT in Resident Evil Requiem. While this car will catch your attention for multiple reasons, like its design and speed, we would like you to look closer at something else. It’s license plate. You will notice that the plate reads “ND = 9642”. This might look like a randomly chosen number at first, but it is not.

The license plate number represents each mainline Resident Evil game in which Leon has appeared as a playable character. These include Resident Evil Requiem (a.k.a Resident Evil 9), Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 2.

Wine Bottle

Easter Eggs in Resident Evil Requiem

During the Grace Ashcroft portion of the campaign, you will find yourself visiting an office next to the Care Facility helipad. The visit will be part of your quest to procure the helicopter key. You will come across a wine bottle while searching a VIP suite. This will look like any other fancy wine bottle until you start reading the label. The wine’s brand is “Sanguis Virgins” and is based in Chateau Dimitrescu. This is the same location you visit, looking to uncover the origins of the wine as Leon in Resident Evil Village.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Easter Eggs in Resident Evil Requiem

When you unlock your first locked drawer using lockpicks as Grace, you unlock the “Like Mother, Like Daughter” achievement. This is a reference to Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft’s core skill of picking locks in Resident Evil Outbreak. The game was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2003. This is an easy-to-miss reference for many players who have not played not-so-popular Resident Evil games.

Kendo Gun Shop

Easter Eggs in Resident Evil Requiem

If you might remember from Resident Evil 2 days, Leon visits the Kendo Gun Shop during the early phase of the campaign. He meets a character named Robert and his infected young daughter inside the shop. He points a gun at Leon, but eventually tells Leon to leave and goes inside the shop. In Resident Evil Requiem, you will visit the shop once again during your visit to the destroyed Raccoon City decades later. Leon also gets flashbacks from the RE2 incident as he walks around the shop. If you have played RE2, you will surely feel some emotions here, if not a lot.

Welcome Leon

Easter Eggs in Resident Evil Requiem

You will notice a “Welcome Leon” greeting banner once you go inside the RPD building in Resident Evil Requiem. This banner has an interesting backstory that some of you might not know. Capcom accidentally misspelt the banner as “Wellcome” in the original Resident Evil 2 release in 1998. This was fixed in the game’s remake release in 2019, but devs intentionally left an extra “L” on the desk. But in the latest Requiem, you will notice that “LL” is missing from the banner, an interesting nod to the original mistake.

RPD Statue Puzzles

Easter Eggs in Resident Evil Requiem

Players spend a good portion of their time as a rookie Leon in the RPD building in Resident Evil 2. This is because he gets trapped in the building, and the only way out is to solve the statue puzzle in the main hall. And to solve that puzzle, you need to solve three Medallion statue puzzles to collect the three medallions. In Resident Evil Requiem, you can interact with two of these Medallion statues and see the solutions. This time, Leon will also acknowledge that it was a weird puzzle.

Tofu is Back… Sort Of

Easter Eggs in Resident Evil Requiem

The popular inside joke character, The Tofu Survivor, from Resident Evil 2, has also made a guest appearance in Resident Evil Requiem. It can be spotted in the Operations Room or the hallway behind the Waiting Room after escaping the Tyrant in the RPD. It will appear from behind the debris and stare at you. This is pretty much all there is about Tofu’s appearance in the latest game.

For those who might not be familiar, The Tofu Survivor character is nothing but a giant block of tofu. It is a playable character in Resident Evil 2‘s bonus challenge modes. It can be unlocked after completing the second run of RE2.

Mr. Raccoon

Easter Eggs in Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil 2 players are likely to remember Mr. Raccoon collectibles. It is a toy figure sporting a raccoon that represents Umbrella Corporation’s mascot. The game has 15 of these figures spread across various locations. You have to destroy each of them using a knife or by shooting with a gun to unlock an achievement. Mr. Raccoon figures have returned in Resident Evil Requiem, but with a major difference. Their colorful and vibrant appearance has been replaced with a monochrome look.

Rebecca Chambers

Easter Eggs in Resident Evil Requiem

If you were one of the players who opened Albert Whisker’s desk 50 times in Resident Evil 2, you must remember the photo of rookie recruit Rebecca Chambers that appeared on the desk. The photo showed her in RPD’s basketball uniform. The same photo has returned in Resident Evil Requiem, but it is easy to miss if you are not sure where to look. You need to look into Wesker’s desk in the S.T.A.R.S. office to procure a library card. The card is for a book called Medicinal Benefits of Herbs, and it mentions Wesker was the last person to have it issued. Now, visit the library and look for this book and you will find the same Rebecca photo inside it.

S.T.A.R.S Office

Easter Eggs in Resident Evil Requiem

As you explore the S.T.A.R.S office in Resident Evil Requiem, you will come across various items that will remind you of the original Resident Evil game. The three most popular items are Jill’s baret, Chris’s leather jacket, and Rebecca’s medical bag.
