Netmarble has officially transitioned Seven Deadly Sins: Origin into what developers describe as its “main phase” with the release of Version 1.2. Titled “The Sun Rises Again,” this update follows a period of developer reflection regarding early technical instabilities and a lack of quality-of-life features since the global launch. Now, community feedback and progression hurdles have all seemingly been addressed.
That’s not to say the new update brings only bug fixes and other unremarkable changes. As major updates go, Seven Deadly Sins: Origin version 1.2 brings a ton of new content, including the arrival of the much-awaited Escanor as a new featured SSR unit that promises to shake up the game’s character tiers and meta.
Check out the full breakdown below.
The Proud Lion Escanor Enters the Fray
The new “The Sun Rises Again” update brings a major increase in quest volume for the game’s main narrative, pushing it well into Act 13 and introducing several more-than-welcome new features.
The main highlight is the introduction of Escanor as a playable unit. He is an SSR unit built around durability and high-impact elemental damage, not unlike Diane. Players can pull him on a dedicated banner that will remain featured until May 13.
Furthermore, the 1.2 update also features “My Sweet Gluttony,” a new mysterious region that is accessible through the southern part of the Vanya Plains. This new territory is populated with unique flora and fauna, offering seven new gathering materials such as Ghost Orchids and Sunstone Ore required for high-tier crafting.
Finally, another well-known Seven Deadly Sins character also makes his debut, albeit in an antagonistic, final boss encounter role. Garland, the first of the Ten Commandments, is featured as a major encounter within Act 13.
Endgame Expansion and New Difficulty Tiers

Seven Deadly Sins: Origin version 1.2 also introduces the game’s first seasonal endgame mode, called “Timespace Junction,” which is scheduled to open on April 29. This stage-based content features sectors that unlock over time, tasking advanced players with overcoming complex combat scenarios for first-clear bonuses. The first season features the boss Marmas and is designed to provide a consistent long-term challenge.
Existing dungeons have also seen their ceilings raised with the addition of Abyss difficulty. The Garland boss challenge is also offered within this elite tier, alongside the Ferzen Mine dungeon. This will serve as the primary source for the new “Pulse of the Curse” accessory set, an equipment set specifically geared toward defensive utility, granting team-wide shields and Dark attribute resistance.
Needless to say, since he is the main gacha feature in this update, Escanor stands to benefit from this kit if you’re building him as a tank.
Overhauls to Crafting and Equipment RNG

To address player frustration regarding the unpredictable nature of equipment acquisition, Netmarble has implemented a selective armor crafting system.
Through the newly expanded Level 6 Master’s Workbench, players can now use materials from bosses and dungeons to craft specific armor pieces, such as boots or belts, for the Star Guardian, Revived Nightmare, and Twisted Wish sets.
Furthermore, the update introduces a preview feature for engraved equipment, allowing players to view passive skills and stat rolls before committing resources to the crafting process. Other additions to the crafting menu include the Gluttonous Soul Axe, Sunstone Alloys, and the Mobile Mining Unit, a specialized pet that functions as both a mount and a mining assistant.
Environmental Interaction and Farming Efficiency

A significant portion of Version 1.2 is dedicated to reducing the fatigue associated with repetitive gathering tasks. The introduction of a continuous tracking feature allows players to set a target count for resources, which the game will automatically track until the goal is met or the resource is exhausted in the world.
The update also redefines the purpose of repeat field battles. Elite and boss monsters in the open world and dungeons now have a chance to drop mastery and crafting materials without the expenditure of Cube Keys.
This change is intended to give players a productive way to continue their progression after their daily keys have been used.
Balancing, Technical Stability, and Adjustments

The development team has implemented several balance changes and technical fixes to improve the user experience across all platforms:
- Pet Mobility: A bug that allowed pets to maintain dash speeds while jumping was fixed; to compensate, the base movement speed of all riding pets has been increased by 10%.
- Hero Bug Fixes: A critical error was resolved where Daisy’s Sword and Shield weapon incorrectly applied passives from other team members.
- Immediate Rewards: Most rewards claimed through events or achievements are now granted directly to the inventory rather than being held in the mailbox.
- Early Game Balancing: Monster stats and quest guidance in the Liones region were adjusted to prevent new players from hitting early progression walls.
- Shop Rotation: Potential points for Elaine, Mannie, and Guila have been removed from the exchange shop and replaced with Drake’s potential points.
Final Thoughts

Version 1.2 serves as a pivotal correction for Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, moving away from the “public beta” feel of the initial launch toward a more robust, content-heavy experience.
By prioritizing community requests such as selective gear crafting and continuous gathering, the developers have shown a willingness to adapt the game’s structure to better meet player needs. These are not just surface-level tweaks but meaningful changes that affect how players engage with progression on a daily basis.
As the game expands into seasonal events and competitive time-attack rankings later this year, the foundation established in this update will likely play a major role in determining the title’s long-term viability in the open-world RPG space. Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is available as a free download on PC, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android, with optional microtransactions.
