As industry health thermometers go, you can’t really go wrong with Steam’s best selling games every year. As Valve’s storefront releases its list of which title got purchased or downloaded the most, not only consumers have a glimpse of where do their favorite titles rank against their competitors, but publishers and development studios have a unique chance to see what makes said consumers tick.
In 2025, things were no different, as the list for Steam’s best selling games this year brings a little bit of everything: gacha games, online competitive multiplayers, the ole-story single player driven experience…the entire list goes on and on.
The full list can be seen below and, for the sake of transparency, we only removed one entry mentioned in the official page — it was an application about animated wallpapers on your PC, which doesn’t really belong in an article about…well, gaming.

Steam’s best selling games of 2025
The entire list comprises dozens of games in no particular order. Steam divided the whole thing in four different categories — Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze — these pillars serve only to tell us what was sold the most, not necessarily a rank of “this better than that” scenario.
This also explains why some of the most prominent items on the list below were, in fact, released far before 2025 — it seems some oldies are still goldies, after all.
