The catch is that you don’t get access to it right away. The Wharf blueprint is locked behind early story progression, and you’ll need to complete a specific set of steps before you can build it. Once unlocked, though, constructing it is straightforward.

How to Unlock the Wharf Blueprint in Windrose
The Wharf blueprint isn’t something you can find or craft immediately. It’s tied to the main questline, so you’ll need to progress through a few early missions first.
Start by completing the main quests “I Need A Bigger Boat” and “Rescuing the Crew.” These are essential for unlocking the next phase of progression.
Once those are done, you’ll automatically receive the Seafarer quest, which is where things start to open up. Your first objective in this questline is to build a Shipwright’s Workshop. This requires:
- 15 Wood
- 10 Coarse Fabric
- 5 Copper Ingots
After placing the workshop, you’ll need to construct a roof over it. The game won’t let you use the station unless it’s properly covered, so make sure it’s either built under a roof or enclosed afterward.
With that done, interact with the Shipwright’s Workshop. You’ll be given three crafting options. To move forward, you only need to complete one, but crafting a 12-pounder Cannon is the best choice since it’s useful later on. Once the cannon is finished, the game will automatically unlock the Wharf blueprint and add it to your building menu.

Compared to unlocking it, actually building the Wharf is simple. You only need two materials:
- 10 Wood
- 10 Coarse Fabric
Wood can be gathered by chopping down trees, while Coarse Fabric is crafted by processing plant fiber at a standard Workbench. It’s a good idea to gather these materials ahead of time so you can build the Wharf immediately after unlocking it.
How to Build Wharf in Windrose
With the blueprint unlocked and materials ready, you can finally construct the Wharf. Start by heading to the coastline near your base bonfire. Placement matters here, as the Wharf must be built at the water’s edge to function properly.
Open your Build Menu (default key: B) and navigate to the Crafting and Utilities tab, then select the Utilities sub-menu. You should now see the Wharf blueprint available. Select it, then place the structure directly in the water near the shore. Positioning is crucial. If it’s not placed correctly along the coastline, it won’t work.
Once placed, your Wharf is ready to use, giving you full access to ship customization, repairs, and upgrades.
