Wuthering Waves has finally lifted the curtain on the Update 3.3’s second phase, which introduces Denia as the main pull in the game’s premium gacha system, succeeding Hiyuki in the end of the city of Lahai-Roi’s questline.

A former Fusion-based boss now turned pullable character Denia is a 5-star Rectifier of a more technical variety, which means that her building kit is tailored for strategic support use instead of main damage dealing capacity.

Using an operator like that can be confusing if you’re not fully immersed into the game’s character building systems. Luckily, that’s what we’re here for: check out our full breakdown below and see for yourself how you can make the most of Denia’s potential.

Denia’s Best Weapons

As previously stated, Denia is a Rectifier user, not unlike Baizhi, Phoebe, Cantarella or Phrolova (the latter, also returning as a secondary banner pull in this phase). However, it’s not just “any” rectifier that will get you far, as choosing the correct weapon for Denia is a matter of balancing her personal Resonance Liberation damage with her role as a team buffer.

  • Best-in-Slot: Forged Dwarf Star. This is Denia’s signature weapon, specifically tailored to her kit. It provides a massive 36% Critical Rate and increases her ATK by 12%. More importantly, it grants a 36% Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus whenever she inflicts her mode-specific status effects, while simultaneously boosting the ATK of the entire team.
  • Premium Alternative: Stringmaster. This is widely considered the strongest alternative for those who already own it. While it lacks the party-wide ATK buff, its unconditional Attribute DMG Bonus and off-field ATK stacks can sometimes allow Denia’s personal damage to surpass what she achieves with her signature gear.
  • Best 4-Star: Augment. Available via the Battle Pass, this weapon provides Critical Rate and a significant ATK buff triggered by casting her Resonance Liberation, which fits perfectly into her standard rotation.
  • Free-to-Play Option: Waltz in Masquerade. This craftable weapon is a solid transitional choice as it grants an ATK boost when hitting enemies afflicted by the negative statuses Denia frequently applies.

Echo Sets and Sonata Effects

Denia’s optimal Echo configuration is unique because it must be matched to her chosen Resonance Mode. It is important to pay close attention to her Echo choices, given that they must translate her innate abilities into greater applications.

  • Fusion Burst Mode (Chromatic Foam Set): If Denia is paired with Fusion-centric damage dealers, the 5-piece Chromatic Foam set is the premier choice. This set enhances her own Fusion damage and, upon her exit through an Outro Skill, provides a substantial 25% Fusion DMG Bonus to the incoming Resonator. The Trickster is the recommended Main Echo here for its additional team-wide elemental buffs.
  • Tune Strain Mode (Reel of Spliced Memories Set): In teams focused on breaking enemy stances, the 5-piece Reel of Spliced Memories set is superior. It increases the team’s Tune Break Boost, allowing for faster execution of the Tune Break mechanic. Pair this with the Voidwing Moth as the Main Echo to further boost the team’s offensive output.
  • Generalist/Main DPS (Flaming Clawprint Set): As we said earlier, Denia is not the best choice for a main DPS, but she does bring good offensive numbers where they count. For players who wish to use Denia as a primary damage dealer (typically recommended at her third Resonance Chain) or in a versatile Mono-Fusion team, the Flaming Clawprint set, with Lioness of Glory as the lead, offers high personal damage scaling for both her Fusion and Resonance Liberation attributes.

Statistical Targets and Tuning

To maximize Denia’s technical performance, players should aim for specific statistical thresholds to ensure her dual-form transitions remain fluid.

  • Primary Stats: The Cost 4 Echo should focus on Critical Rate or Critical Damage. For Cost 3 Echoes, Fusion DMG Bonus is the priority, though ATK% can serve as a placeholder. Cost 1 Echoes should always prioritize ATK%.
  • Energy Requirements: A baseline of 125% Energy Regen is highly recommended. This ensures she can consistently trigger her Resonance Liberation to maintain the uptime of her Erosion Field and form-switching mechanics.
  • Sub-stat Priority: After securing enough Energy Regen, focus on Critical Stats, followed by ATK% and Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus. Because the majority of her meaningful damage scales with her ultimate, Liberation damage tuning is significantly more valuable for her than for most other characters.

Final Thoughts

Given that we just had a main DPS Fusion-based Resonator when Aemeath was released, Denis should not be considered a high-impact damage driver. However, if you’re playing a full Fusion team and counting on elemental skills, she is the best you can get.

Other than that, Denia should be used as a catalyst of sorts, amplifying pre and post combo benefits obtained by Intro and Outro skills—hers and other characters’s. She is a somewhat technical, sophisticated character that requires attention to build properly, but when you do that, she will likely become a key part of your team’s rotation.

Wuthering Waves is a free-to-play game available on Windows, Android, iOS, PlayStation 5, and macOS, with optional microtransactions.
